Thread regarding Saudi Aramco layoffs

This problem seems to be becoming more common here?

(...) Also I have to add the typical passive aggressive behavior of withholding information and resources needed to complete a task while demanding to meet an absurd deadline. I literally had to steal information from certain people's computers by transferring it to a shared drive then transferring it to mine.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been facing the problem of withholding the information needed to get the job done lately on a daily basis?

A lot of time and money is invested in all that patents, certainly you will have some cheers, will be helpfull? Sure, now you know how to do a patent but if the company do a proper follow most of them are only good intentions. It's a shame because most patents doesn't come from Technical and research departments where they have the highest expertise.

To rephrase the spirit of the pots, collaboration and innovation in Aramconow there's a joke. Posters, campaigns, etc. How many people submitting whatever comes to their mind just to get a SACO voucher. The worst is that you have to avail your time just to shoot down some very irrelevant and silly ideas, since the way participation is encouraged is that the bosses press their employees to participate just to up the numbers and then brag to other departments on how innovative their department is.

This site is for discussions in Layoffs, not these fictional accounts.

This site is supposed to be about layoffs. Now it’s starting to look like Facebook, Twitter or Yahoo Zombies have ruined the site with their fake news and unrelated stories.. It also appears that this discussion is from people who have never worked there.

I called once a Manager because nobody answer my calls or sent me in a infinity loop of people in charge.

Information hoarding by departments and individuals is nothing new. Expats used to work around the problem by sharing information "unofficially" with each other in order to get the work done. The recent problem is that most of the Expats who shared are gone. The ones that remain are generally too political to share anything or do anything that hasn't been cleared all the way up to VP. When I resigned, most of the Expats that remained certainly fit that bill, especially the ones from certain non-Western countries. My advise is to request everything in writing, cc your division head, and then keep your mouth shut and take it when the big boss chews you out. You won't get promoted, but you probably won't get fired either, because you went through the necessary steps to complete the task and the next guy might not be able to do even that. If you aren't prepared to swallow your pride on a daily basis, leave, or better yet don't come in the first place.

Just my $0.02
