Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

There is no prestige in working here anymore

Remember when new hires were excited about working at Dell? I remember so many new people used to tell me it was their dream to get a job at Dell and how happy they were to finally succeed. Now, new employees mostly use Dell as a stepping stone for something better. They get a few years of experience and move on. I find that to be so sad, considering how great this company was once.

our new people are working on dull, boring tasks. I'm guess they won't be around too long.

Lol Prestigious job? Who gives a f** where you work other than yourself. Your friends and family don't give a damn where you work. Your family doesn't care where you work as long it provides. The prestige about a job is just in your head so you alone can inflate your ego. No one gives a f$#+ what company you work for.

I can agree with this. The Dell name did not impress recruiters and hiring managers during my job search in the last few months. It was sad to hear from a headhunter that Dell experience is discounted and viewed unfavorably in the marketplace.

You actually think all jobs/companies are the same cause it's all a paycheck.
Only someone with a limited view and lack of ambition would say something like that.

You are mid in life, that's okay, but stop pretending like it's some sort of virtue.

Tell me you're not creative by directly telling me that, rather than using the worn out "Tell me x without telling me x" line.
Ranks right up there with "living rent free in your head" idiocy that young folks spout off because they are too lazy to craft a response.

Is there any prestige in a job? Give me a pay check and benefits and have a nice day. Companies don't care about you why should you care about them.
