Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Angry and frustrated

I've sent out hundreds of applications in the last several months and received barely any responses. Why do you even post an opening if you're going to completely ignore people who apply?? I'm not even complaining about no interviews, I'm just pi---d off because it feels like I'm wasting my time because my applications never even make it to the hiring manager.

It's best to learn how to function rationally. Your anger and frustration sounds like what happens when a preschool child has a toy malfunction. Control your emotions and then focus on the problem and alternative solutions. GL

You need to build your skills and your friends list. I went back to college after being a senior manager. When the Intel recruiters (lower level employees who use to work for me ) arrived there were long line of students waiting to talk to them. There were a few of my new friends in line there and I told them do not worry, I will get them lunch with the lead technical guy at the company. I was amazed at how few of my fellow students asked me to help them .

The job market in IT is absolutely awful right now. And with year-end coming up, many tech companies have frozen job reqs for this year. So plan on being "angry and frustrated" for a while. And if you're employed right now, don't do anything in your job to jeopardize getting laid off.

If you're only looking in tech, look at other more stable industries. See recent post about how hard the job market has been for tech. It's not you necessarily. Use a resume tool like JobScan or something similar as resumes are being read by AI.

As a recent retiree, I have to agree with what @lso said. Thanks for the lavish send off. Loving the stress free life. Now that’s what you call work-life balance (0 work, all life!).

Tell me about it, I’m working for 30 bucks an hour just to fill the time and do something!

It’s because no one is hiring former Intel employees. As much as everyone denys it there is a hiring band on former Intel people. Sure a few get through but look around vast majority no. Our reputations is garbage. I strongly encourage you to try outside of semiconductor field

Keep your head up! Try tweaking your resume to the job descriptions or having a 3rd party review. I recently made some small changes and got many more callbacks.

Everyone say it isn’t true but it is - no one wants to hire former Intel employees. Why would they? These employees ki-led one of America’s biggest brands. So hire them on so they can do the same at new company??

Really you have the retirees and VSPs to thank. They are the ones who left you in this predicament. And they don’t care they go their pay day. They fu---d you over and made you applaud it at their retirement parties.

Fake job openings to make people think their bussiness is doing good and hiring. Like a bussiness that has a poster " we are now hiring " but they actually don't hire anyone.

What is your specialty OP?

I just wonder if it is a market issue or your resume or both.

market is swarmed with tens of thousands of resume since mid 2023's.
The swarm is only getting bigger.
Credit crunch. Loans are not cheaper anymore. Post covid (2021), interest rates were practically zero, companies were flush, they overhired.
Now the companies are struggling to pay interest on those loans.
There are in deed many fake job posts.

Conclusion : from your (and my) pov, we need to keep applying with zero hope. That way, we won't get hurt if nobody replies. It has become like t1nder tbh. Send 1000 applications and hope that some chick will reply. Good luck

You can not be serious, come on! If you are in STEM, your resume should not be ignored at all. And recruiters invitations should keep annoying you, just for collecting your resume and have you "technical" interviewed for legal job posting. As Trump stepping on, recruiters and immigration lawyers are going to be busy for at least a while. The hiring is slow and the market is not great, but your resumes are more than welcome and your interviews will be appreciated.

Use ASU resume template
It should be one page
Highlight your most important experience to every role
Margins at the end should be the same from every corner
Don't insert there any tables — their cells don't get formatted right
Try messaging hiring managers for the roles you are most interested in on LinkedIn before applying
Don't send batch resumes to nameless companies — they mostly have fake job postings

Good luck from Poland!
