Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Sincerely G10 PE

I know and have raised to my manager that we have G10 Principal Engineers doing paperwork. His response was they earned it. And we wonder why we are in the situation we are. How does one get promoted to a G10 has anyone solved the mystery?

Yeah for sure... If you want G10 you better be working for a G11 or better yet G12

Yes, the mystery is to build a network of people that you kiss their a-s so they like you and vote for you. It's all politics and not ability. PE title is has no meaning other than you can play the game. They and the stupid title needs to go. I think CCGs PEs are the worst and what is funny about it, they think they are the best. CCG PEs need to get flushed down the drain.

Getting a Grade 10 PE is beyond impossible unless you are a-s kisser. Tell me i am wrong . A Grade 10 PE is about paid 400K + bonus + RSUs. These people are rare

Or get CPM’d as a G9, take a year off, and return as a G10 PE — multiple examples across LTD rehires in the first half of 2024 … and it will be happening again in about 11 months with the lot of “senior” folks who VSP’d thinking they could find better but realize now that they have no marketable skills outside of PowerPoint.

you need to work for a manager who is senior enough to get you promoted and then you make them your best friend. the manager will make sure you are on projects that get the right level of visibility and will push your promotion through. the projects don't need to be that significant or useful. your manager will make sure that they are celebrated like you just solved world hunger. it is all politics, very little technical skill. a lot of PEs aren't even educated as engineers. the label of engineer gets applied to a lot of people in the tech world that actually don't have the education in the field. good thing that aren't running a hospital or your surgeon might have not medical training.
