That’s it. I will run for office as a republican and change the way the party thinks. It will be liberal thinking all the way. Enough of this, let’s talk about layoffs.

@1ks+1jmywkg4t Please get over the election because it is tiring. I guess you would like the children holding up signs in the House and shaking a cane at Trump running the country. Yout team had 4 years to prove thet should stay in office, and lost to a convicted felon as you all like to say. Look in the mirror and realize your team elected Trump just as much as the people that actually voted for him. Until you realize that failure you are a lost cause.

@1ey+1jmywkg4t, if you don’t mind waiting a little while, I’ll give you a few new $250 bills with Trump‘s picture on them. You can spend them or dry the tears from your eyes. If you spend them, don’t spend them all at once, but rather spend them over the passage of time. That’s significant, or so someone said. I have already forgotten who.

@1bc+1jmywkg4t, The sad thing is that I think you actually believe all the things you post on this site. Try this - stop watching CNN, NPR and MSNBC for just one week. You'll be amazed at how much clearer you think and how much better you feel about the world. Your troubled mind will begin to heal. Your anxiety will start to subside. That urge to scream will go away. Food might even taste better. Please, for the rest of us, give it a try.

Is lTI a percentage or is it a hard number per pay grade?

Oxy is the worst performing company in its peer group. This is undeniable.. Look it up. Why should employees benefit from this? We are officially a merit based society now (DEI is dead isn't it). Increase shareholders value is on the top of the senior executives honey do list. Do this and let the benefits flow. The only staff that should get some mention are the A&D group that offloaded $4.5 billion dollars of assets to help pay down the staggering debt. Oxy is in the business to make money and in turn increase shareholder value. Simple but they are failing.

@15m definitely trying to convice you, if you really feel that way quit if you are an Oxy employee, probably your attitude if bringing down your team. If you are a shareholder then sell and all your troubles will be resolved. Come one... just quit... be happy working for Chevron, Shell, Exxon, or whatever cr-ppy company you will complain next about.

Stock on it's way to $46.00... Seems like a lifetime ago I sold stock at a dismal $52.00. Between Oxy's poor performance and actions by the Dear Leader, you are on a $45.00 trajectory. You are wondering about how many fish are in your bonus bucket?... Not sure there will be fish next year if this trend comes to fruition...

The truth hurts and is always glossed over by those too ignorant to face facts. The worst kind of people are those who gloss over the facts to convince themselves that they are something other than what they are. Nothing is more accurate than applying this to the people at Oxy. Posting the same thing again and again on here about how wonderful Oxy is, but who are you really trying to convince?

HR gets bonuses for posting absolute BS on here. And, of course there is forced ranking.

Those who worship Oxy will get awakened soon enough especially when this low performing company gets thrashed by an an acquirer during its fire sale.

@121 I agree, I usually wonder what kind of employee (an actual employee) would write such things about the company, but still dress up to go to the office instead of quitting. The hypocrisy levels are off the charts, again assuming they are true employees and not just trolls in their parents basements

We are all blessed to work for such a generous company, and should all appreciate our pay, bonuses, and benefits. If you can pay some of it forward to those less fortunate I am sure it would be appreciated by those needing a little help. I have been with Oxy for almost 9 years and have yet to be disappointed with the generousity of Oxy. Sure there will always be a negative here and there, but for me the positives have far outweighed any negatives. This site is mostly the negatives, but I just wanted to add a little of the positive. I wish you all the best.

@yn where does the 40% come from? Obviously if your target bonus is 20% then you won't hit it. However, if your target bonus is 25% or 30% then you absolutely can.

@yn The strong, high, and exceptional are not a flat percentage but rather a range. Exceptional has the highest range and goes up to 200%. If your target is 20%, it would take the company and personal percentage both coming in at 200% in order to get a 40% bonus. Yes, it would be an anomaly.

So if strong performer is 100% , high performer is 130% and exceptional 160%, then how can anyone ever get the top of the bonus cuz the math ain't mathing. Example target is 20% but Max is 40%, if you get exceptional 160% and company is somehow 200% you would only have 36% right? Would have to be an anomaly to get 40%.

@ky's post is the reason there is a forced ranking. 80% of the companies staff is simply not routinely hitting ba--s over the fence daily. Every company I have worked for (40 years in the biz) aims for a normal distribution with 70% of the population in the "doing what's expected of them" range. 15% for "high fliers "and 15% "for needs attention". If Oxy's population is skewed towards the high fliers category , forced ranking comes in to redistribute back to a normal distribution. Managers can swear that they have the power to promote and determine bonuses but when their recommendations finally make it to the Executive they have been HR sanitised. Add to the mix that demographics are reviewed to make sure everyone is treated equally. Just because we are in a no DEI age, it is still used by the HR wizards to thwart being sued. Life is far more complicated than you think....

Stuns me how naive people are. Few people are fast tracked, many have a normal progression and the rest are identified for improvement and/or dismissed. Promotion boards exist for a reason. Guidance is given to managers wrt ratings and promotions within groups. Not everyone is going to be President. Politics always comes into play. Don’t think that DEI is a recent development and it is not going away. Normalization is a normal course of business for Oxy. Too bad that the HR staff who follow this site can’t be honest.

Rankings are normalized and so are promotions and payouts. Hard to find out there is no Easter Bunny after all....

@mq+1. Lies. There are no forced rankings. I have been involved in the rating process for years, and I know there are no forced ranking. Further, if there were forced rankings it would be because we in management requirement it, not because of HR. HR has no power to dictate such things.

Bonuses?

In 2024 the stock price went from $59.71 to $49.41 - a drop of 17.25 %.

The term "bonus" obviously cannot refer or be related to the performance of the Company - as in record profits" or a "banner year" or the like.

Then again, this is VH's Oxy so anything is possible.

My understanding is about 80% of the company is a "strong performer".
I was told that by a supervisor a couple of years ago.

Here is the formula for bonus.

  • Your personal multiplier is based on your performance. 1.0 for strong, 1.3 for high, 1.6 for exceptional.
  • This year the company's multiplier is 1.5.
  • Combine them together, your final multiplier would be 1.25 for strong, 1.4 for high, 1.55 for exceptional.
  • Now multiply that with your bonus target. For example, if your bonus target is 10% and you are a strong performer, your bonus will be 12.5%.

I don't think if there is a formula for LTI.

You guys should not post this stuff. The bonuses are good, but in many cases a lot of people are kept at percentages a lot lower and have no chance of getting the percentages you enjoy, and many work hard and support the likes of you daily.
