Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

GU's departure

So was there truth to the posting in this forum few weeks ago about GU which was removed quickly? Was that the reason for this departure? Does it have something to do with ER's departure too? Anyway, good riddance. Lot of level 10s and up to Sr VPs are incompetent who moved up just because they were cronies to the powers. Talented people below level 10s are intentionally not promoted so the corrupt top layers continue to have a good time.

GU will come back stronger then ever. And nothing will happen or stop him because we allowed it. It will be something everyone knows and slight whispers about but no justice will come of it. Because we allowed the it. If we were is same position GF would tar and feather us. And Call our next place of employment to inform them of our sins. ( yes Globalfoundries actively does this)

And sadly there is so much double standard stuff at Globalfoundries that we allow to slide. So it will never end .

Perhaps another case of "sabbatical leave" for a year before returning to a higher position?

Thought I saw another comment on Singapore. Maybe it was reported as it revealed the identity of the culprit? Would like to know more about that as that is a serious concern but I reckon it deserves another thread of itself.

I think you might be on to something. It definitely smells like a cover-up only to have him return when everything blows over. Everyone and I mean everyone I ask doesn’t want to talk about it or is scared.

Like someone else pointed out why be scared of this guy? Why protect the bad guy? Well if he is coming back when it all blows over this makes a lot of sense!

I wonder if the other parties involved are still with GLOBALFOUNDRIES. Were they also given time off to return?

How is this even permitted today in modern workplace?? Maybe because of European employment rules and laws?

The real issue for GF As a public company is its senior leadership team, SVP and some below them, who are incompetent and worse, corrupt to core. This senior leaders cultivate a culture of corruption and hire and promote people just as corrupt and incompetent as themselves. So the problem just spreads . This must be a matter of great concern to both share holders and ordinary employees. The board needs to look into this urgently. Every single SVP should be investigated and interviewed for their job by qualified individuals appointed by the board of directors and shareholders

Yikes. GLOBALFOUNDRIES is so dirty. Was it always like this? Or is this recent change? Maybe I was naive before but now the corruption and just all around BS is just so blatant now. It’s like they stopped caring to even try to hide it anymore

Just like one of the F7 HODs who used the excuse of his kid's exam in 2017 to take a year off when he was actually accused of setting up companies to accept thousands or hundreds of POs <$5k to buy parts or material for GF.

Believed the higher-up was aware and asked him to hide while everyone was discussing it. And when another HOD left, he sprung back naturally as if nothing has ever happened a year later.

I think we have to file this under #fakenews.
He is still in system. No one here knows about it. Most likely he just took time off of for family or personal reasons and will be back within 6 months or so.

They should be telling us his story as a cautionary tale - perfect week to be doing this. But no GLOBALFOUNDRIES protects the bad guys. GU? GU who? never heard of him? Seeing some of his former underling mgrs talk too is cringy. Like you are guilty of this stuff too! Some of it is blatant. You just have not been officially called out on it or reprimanded ….. just yet….

This guy was used as scapegoat. Over 180 engineers were hired in the favorite low cost country before the re org by his previous management. After the re org he was asked by his new manager to do a headcount reduction , mainly in US to offset the cost of 180 engineers in low cost country. He argued against that decision rightly pointing fingers at folks responsible for the 180 hires. Per oneGF values he was fired for speaking truth and showing slightest signs of backbone

Wait? So was ES departure connected to GU’s removal?

Yes but his former leadership team was especially egregious in such violations. As highlighted below many of those managers we-ponized diversity for their own personal while very loudly shouting onegf !

Well if this guy was fired as being suggested for showing favoritism, then the entire GF senior leadership should also be fired because in my experience they are all guilty of promoting friends and family , overlooking more talented and deserving candidates.

The rest of his former org management chain also needs to looked into thoroughly. They have all be dispersed into different areas. Why??

I don’t get this cultural environment of secrecy here at GLOBALFOUNDRIES - where they go out of their way to protect the bad guy or if something bad/illegal happens they try to conceal it very quickly.

Every and any other company would address such issues head on. Townhall meetings to discuss etc. meetings to address so it doesn’t happen again and provide some comfort to employees or at least acknowledge something bad occurred and it is being fixed - nope, not at GLOBALFOUNDRIES.

Other things as well - there have been deaths on site - but instead of publicly acknowledging and sending out emails offering support and help for people if they are in need, GLOBALFOUNDRIES hides and suppress such news. I remember learning of one occurring and shocked that it was not even acknowledged and that people not directly tied to that team had no clue this happened! That’s when I learned there have been others that I myself never even heard a whisper about.

Ask around. I am curious too see how much this is being hushed up.

I don’t get why - if guy did bad things or committed crimes it should discussed out in open not sweated under the rug

If you don’t know the guy that means you didn’t work for that particular organization , nor did you have to deal with them. For that , consider yourself a lucky employee of GF, relatively speaking.

Reading the comments here , I assume from employees, it’s quite clear that GF is a seriously messed up company at senior leadership level. I wouldn’t at all be surprised to read about employee law suits and even SEC investigation into senior management sometime in not so distant future………..

It is very weird all those posts were removed. I saw them and no specifics were mention. The key message I got from them were that GU’s replacements were all corrupt in some form or another and all have seemed to have figured out a way to we-ponize diversity programs to their advantage.

Which if you think about it actually sounds like the absolute opposite of the original intend of such programs. It’s like they uno reversed them and are creating the same original problem that these programs set out to remedy in the first place.

Very weird times here at GLOBALFOUNDRIES

I had not heard about GU’s departure. I think most don’t know. I heard about it but just that he left all of a sudden. I have asked others and nearly everyone I asked, in fact all had not heard that he had. Apparently an email went out to small group just stating he has left GLOBALFOUNDRIES. But I do see his meta data is still up if you search for him in database/peoplefinder so some are questioning whether he has actually left or not??

Just noticed bunch of wonderful comments about the potential replacement for GU were removed!!! I take that as kind of proof of validity of those comments. Her lack of competence, her abuse of companies diversity policies , cronyism, and above all her being a favorite of the top guy for one reason or other!
