Had my first interview today. Sort of sad. They asked me why I left a long term job, said I haven't, yet, looking for replacement first.
I hated every second. I don't have that many years til retirement, older you are the more difficult to change.
I am just fearing my job will soon be gone, maybe not today, Bit soon. I can't make less, I can't afford to.
But, I love my job. I love my campus. I love my Co workers. Follett s---s putting us in this position.
It was said, it's all because of us, because of our hard work they are gaining ground. They show us how much they have gained for the company, but think little of us when it comes to rewarding us for our hard work. We work hard!! Most of us have way more than our share of work to do and what do we get? Money taken out of our pocket book!! Next thing you know they'll be cutting our wages to increase theirs. They dangle the carrot in front of our noses by saying the future will be so profitable for all of us, but they just want to keep us running for them, I doubt we ever get that carrot. I don't buy their promises.
The feel of a campus is special. My experience is, however, it's a one sided infatuation. The real friends you've made, on campus, will remain your friends. Most people will slip away. The difference between a good retirement and struggling through retirement is these final years of working. You can't work for less. If someone is offering you a good job at good pay, don't think twice about Follett or your campus. Take it, run, laugh all the way through retirement.
You will survive, if you think it is the right fit for you. Remember change is good sometimes. The way Follett is treating us is morally wrong on so many levels, they don't care about us. You need to think of what is best for you.
Let's not forget half of IT going to India a few times a year.
Years of dedication, loyalty, passion. My store has always been profitable. I have always met my goals/budgets and recieved bonus. Too bad Follett only cared about Market share and signing as many contracts as possible, even though so many of those showcase stores cost the company millions each year, but the big wigs could show off and brag about having the Note Dames, Florida States, and Boston Colleges in their portfolios. It was nice to have all the senior management fly in to these cities every week at company expense to see the games.
So, now that the company has made terrible decisions in the way they have spent their money (how much was spent to have all of those executives, ceo, presidents quietly walk out the door), we, the profitable ones suffer.
