Thread regarding SAP layoffs

SAP Ireland HR claim the ECF are wrong about external consultation experts

In the past email from the outgoing ECF they mention that not only can effected employees have another colleague represent their group in the consultation process, but that a suitably qualified external party can represent affected staff during the consultation period. The ECF even said that there may be a means for SAP to pay for it.

SAP HR said this is completely wrong and there is no right to external representatives. They are also insisting that we rush to elect representatives before end of next week. They are trying to rush this process to get it swept away without workers getting their rights represented and defended properly.

There is no way to find out the other effected teams so I hope this reaches some... DO NOT TELL SAP WHO YOU HAVE CHOSEN AS A REP. Even if your team has chosen reps, do not tell SAP until it is legally required (you can even tell them there is no consensus in the group and that an election is needed, to gain more time). We need to use time effectively and not let them rush us and be left jobless. I know I'm not the only one who will struggle if without pay for even 1 month, given the crisis here.

HR are not our friends. They work for SAP. Their jobs are to get us to "go quietly". Do not make anything easy for them. If you give an inch, they will take a mile.

Anyone that knows effected teams, please feel free to comment them (it is public info as it must be sent to the minister since it is over 30 people). SAP refuse to give a description of the effected roles.

What is the current redundancy offer?

@xbh+1s7KxtrA You forgot to mention the downside: SAP has to agree for people to join the voluntary program.

Anyone in AI or other buzzword topics might as well forget about it. Sorry.

Word within the usual well-informed circles has it that SAP tries to spread out the layoffs in Ireland in order to make each one a small one, thus reducing the influence of the employee representatives. Be prepared for such a move, folks. And all the best.

Thanks for the info. Definitely if we can show during the consultation period that the roles are not truly redundant, and are just being moved to low cost locations then we would have a legal case against SAP. That's not allowed under Irish law.

SAP Ireland reps should be pushing for a similar package as that in Germany which is apparently: "First 10 years yield 2 monthly salaries per year. The next 10 years 1.5 monthly salaries per year. The rest 1 month per year. Capped at 40 monthly salaries."

Days ago I was on a call listening to senior management talk about having headcount, in low cost locations, to hire to replace those currently being made redundant.
