I am wondering, as a relatively new joiner, will HR take into account the full background/CV of the person when taking the decision to sack? Or only time spent at Citi?

Why is someone who retired a year ago trolling a layoff site and copy/pasting the same story over and over again? Don't you have anything better to do in retirement or is this the highlight of your day?
why do people stay 30 years at a place they're happy to be let go of? this I do not understand at this place. Many people seem to despise the place but they still stay for many years. My best guess is the money, but even then, really can't find anything in 30 years that pays better? And I'm not referring to the person that posted here, I'm just talking in general how a lot of people seem to bad mouth the place but they don't want to leave either. I don't get it.
@wbu+1qwvChmb I have no kids and worked very hard at citi the entire time I am entitled to all the severance I got You are a terrible person. I’m glad they got rid of me too if you read what I wrote it said, I was glad to be let go as now I can Bask in the sun.
You are very jealous and bitter and not
happy for anybody because your life stinks and seem unhappy yourself. Karma is a bi--h and you’ll get yours.

+3 You are totally wrong I probably make as much as you guys I’m not an MD or even Director I was in a non-revenue department and the increases in bonus su-ked. I paid my time working at 30 years so you can su-k it.
Post ID: @wbu+1qwvChmb: You are very smug. People like you are big part of the problem at Citi. Working 30+ years collecting bonuses as (presumably) ED/MD for at least 20 of these is ridiculous. I am actually glad they kicked you out. How are supposed younger people like me get on the career ladder if octogenarians like you are putting a ceiling? That is why today Citi announced 780 mil severance costs - exactly because of people like you. Shame on you. After you paid for your house, children's education and whatnot you still want to squeeze few last bucks... Pathetic. Of course you were happy 😁
I was at citi over 30 years. Every single year I got ones and twos never any threes. All of a sudden last year I got all threes so I knew what that meant. Right on schedule I was invited to a zoom call in January Where I was laid off I was actually happy As I retired early and was not upset at all on the call, had a big smile on my face entire time and I told her I didn’t care and nice working with you. I even sent an email to my bosses boss, saying thank you. I’m sure it shocked her
Do you guys think the "self identification" will be used in determining who stays and who leaves? The reason I wonder is, what if most of the decided to be let go are in these DEI groups, wouldn't HR interfere and change the selection process as they are trying to meet certain numbers in that regard?
If the role is still necessary then rating and salary will be decisive factors. The goal is to reduce expenses.
@kpl+1qwvChmb 100% Well said
Im constantly amazed at how d-mb the people on here are. HR does not make any decisions. Your manager is lying to you about your salary, your bonus, and why you are getting RIFd. Think about it! Why would they want to say "it was my decision"? They wouldn't. So they act like they are your friend and disappointed too. All this is happening because Jane failed at her job and needs the financials to woo investors and street analysts. Jane and her team are the reason for your low salary, your low bonus, and you losing your job. Stop taking the bait and being so easily manipulated. Use your brain.
You’re assuming that HR is competent. Yeah, good luck with that.
Your background gets quickly overlooked once you've joined.
You could be too expensive to fire (long tenure), or too expensive to keep (high salary).
Post ID: @oaw+1qwvChm: I get that. My question whether, if it is between me (ivy league post-grad degree, 10+ years of experience in other top firms and Citi) and a Citi employee with questionable background and 7 years of service, HR will sack me?
It’s all about your project. If it’s internal non revenue project or can be cut in budget or duplicate then you are target
HR doesn't decide. But no, your career history is not taken into account. There have been tenured employees let go with excellent track records.
