China knows VMW helps BC with AI. That's exactly what the US and China are fighting about. This is a big bargaining chip for China to prevent some US AI innovation.

OP here. I should have been clearer. I know VMW has nothing special to AI. As people said below, it is the access to many data centers that VMW provides. And then BC can be positioned for "private AI" and selling chips and tech with all those customers. That's what I meant by VMW for AI.
However you see it, AI is part of BC's play, whether it's specific tech or just increased demand for its existing solutions (Hock even said on his investor call). Since that's in play, it directly relates to the political situation ongoing.

It might have been written by AI. That is one of the issues. AI slides go over the top on the smallest thing blowing everything up to be a big important thing when it's not.
Where VMware hopes to capitalize on their AI play is the inevitable datacenter expansions and buildouts that will be necessary to run AI in a "local" or "democratized" manner - this is literally from their "vision" slideware. The whole "Private AI" thing is just running AI on prem, for organizations that want more "compact and cost-efficient" commercial and open source AI models running on on-prem infrastructure (they're marketing towards orgs that need/want data locality/privacy). They're chasing a workload, essentially.
