Prepare it is coming return to office more days

All I know is for some areas we are getting into busy season and I don't think I give a flying fu-k about mandatory over time.
@mm i guess Ted would allow me to sit in my pajama pants and productively working if he knew that I drive more outcome and lead more happy group of associates than my peers.
@mm their pajamas. He might be rolling in his grave if he knew the literacy rate of senior leadership and their supporters.
More offshore is coming too.
@n1 this is so true. Ted always had principles about protecting and rewarding the people who work for the firm. Can you imagine his reaction to knowing how deeply we’ve outsourced work to third parties, especially offshore?
@mp I'm sick of people referencing Ted Jones as well. EJ is no longer the same place he built. The current leadership has no reverence for him and hold none of the same ideals. I've advocated for removing all references to "The Richest Man in America" quote from EJ. "Money has never been my God" is certainly not applicable to the managing partner or anyone on the ELT.
Let's stop pretending this is still Ted Jones' firm. EJ is a financial firm that lost its soul by trying (and failing) to be another JP Morgan or Goldman Sachs.
@km, ok Chewbackie!
@mq , I wouldn't count on it.
I'm getting my resume ready to start looking outside. I'm burnt out, my mental health is still taking a toll on me.
I'm not sure what your status is, I can retire (go elsewhere) or give 2 weeks notice. OR to stop showing up to work. That's not a good idea though.
@mp I’m tired of it too. We can’t do anything that’s right for our customers without someone mentioning him rolling in his grave! Let’s stop it. He was of a different time and he would surely want to be competitive and make money.
Also, can we stop with the not finding talent in STL. That’s complete bs. If the 60% of HO workers that are remote were so great then why haven’t there been marked improvement in our products and offerings?
@mn what are the chances of them doing another round of VSPs?
@mn simply replying to a comment about Ted jones rolling in his grave about people being in the office. He would be shocked that we are wearing jeans and tennis shoes, not in the office 8-5... Just tired of hearing Ted Jones references by all the whiners on here.
@mm when you refer to home based being in their pajamas are you referring to when they log in from 6-8 am to actually get work done before the sh-t storm of over worked over complicated consultant led meetings start or from 8-10 pm when they log back in to respond to emails? Or both periods of time?
@kg Ted Jones would be rolling in the grave if he knew more than half our workforce was sitting at home in there pajama pants.
@ey what is going ot to leaders?
Edward Jones is becoming just like every other firm. “They are back in the office so we need to be back in the office”. No original thought or guts to be different.
So now we have to be micromanaged as adults
@m6 you’re spot on, and you should absolutely leave. They don’t deserve you or your licenses!
@m5 but if they make things so miserable that you quit, then they don't have to pay severance or unemployment, don't have to structure layoffs to avoid being required to file WARN notices. It's a sleazeball move at best, and has DC's tactics written all over it.
I'm really, really tempted to jump ship and go to another b/d that will allow full time remote work. My licenses and experience should be worth something in this industry.
@m2 100%! They should offer another VSP round now that everyone has more information. Quit the sleazy tactics to save a buck. If you want less home office associates, then say that, and then offer us another opportunity to leave. Making it as toxic as possible trying to get people to quit hurts everyone.
@m2 That is my sentiments too… I personally think that is coming next.
Penny’s quote is ChatGPT generated… Gtfo. Who’s steering this ship? Let’s just keep pi----g off associates and making this a less desirable place to work.
Just tell us what the end goal really is? Stop lying to us. You want us to leave, do another VSP and I guarantee many of us will go! Nothing is worse on the otherside now!
@kt 100% this. All the big wall street guys are saying this while we mimic and follow every move they make like a lost child. We used never conform and follow their lead. That is what made us different. Next year they will start doing layoffs in smaller batches to avoid the WARN laws and create less headlines in the news. ELT has made it clear that they hate us, don't care about what made this company great, and plan to destroy it one way or another.
@km you so silly to think that stl is a hub for talent. This may be good for serving local retail peeps, but hate to play where big boys play.
@k1 comms slop is because communications team can’t write to save their lives.
@j4 the kicker would be if Edj expects associates to be in the office and not reimburse for travel.
@kj are they requiring all GPs to move to STL? They hired plenty that are not STL based.
@km Hi Penny
@km you sound ret@rded and completely out of touch with reality. Did the same chat gp write this trash that was used on amplify this morning?
This is about quiet firing, plain and simple. It is a falsehood that collaboration and decision making are easier in person. Have a Zoom meeting or a Teams call and work together like we do every day (without having to reserve a conference room.)
What great timing…I’m out on a trip and nowhere near my computer. Don’t have outlook on my phone either.
Can someone please paste in what the article said? Curious how poorly it’s worded.
@km bootlicking bi--h. I work my a-s off for our branch teams and for my colleagues, some of the hardest working, smartest, and most innovative people I've ever met. Many of those people are scattered across the country.
So yeah when we talk about loyalty and culture. I align it to those people who are highly educated, highly skilled, and have no reason what so ever to live anywhere other than they live now.
@kn Announced in Amplify News to all associates this morning. Leaders were made aware yesterday.
@km Spoken like a true sub-par individual who counts on rubbing elbows to advance their career.
I’m no longer at Edward Jones, was this announcement pushed out to all associates today or just leaders?
@k4 - St Louis has housed Stifel, AG Edward’s/Wells Fargo, Scottrade, Edward Jones and many other financial services firms. I can assure you that Phoenix has a strong workforce as well. As someone from St. Louis I see this as great news both for the city but ensuring the culture and climate remain intact. I understand this sentiment will be unpopular but the wide nationwide hiring since COVID is what ER was created. Workers from afar do not have the same impact 5 years of studies have shown this. And for people in the markets where our physical home offices are located - HBA is a privilege, not a right. Time to be adult, put professional clothes on, and bring your A game. Time to get back to work.
@gj pizza party must be a joke
@kc it said moving forward new positions would not be offered HBA. But there could be exceptions. I read that as you have to be the best candidate for them to look at an exception but potentially you will not be considered.
@k4 right on. Stl is not where the talent is located to do transformational work. Did McDaniel come up with this workforce strategy
@k9 Ted Jones has got to be rolling in his grave :(
