Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

Get out while you still have yourself value and self-worth.

Many are leaving as I have, and what a breath of fresh air. What a waste of years I made. Total waste of years. And I see and know so many that will stay. Again all I can say is............

Get out while you still have yourself value and self-worth.

How's the party, Neal? You might be drunk already.

We can’t even afford a small team celebration, while Neal Sample and his close circle are partying at a luxury resort for a week. Good for them.

Thank you WBA for laying me off in January. I have a much better job now - working with people who really are passionate about their work and not just paycheck hogging. WBA is a dumpster fire - I love sitting outside with my popcorn and watching it all burn down. SAWEET. The a--holes who laid me off and didn't even have the common courtesy to say SORRY - bet you're enjoying your stock dilution LOL.

Got laid off in January - AI team. I was picking up my Rx at the Walgreens close by - and it was normal sometimes to wait 2-3 days for fulfillment. Just switched to CVS. Good riddance. I am working for a much better company now, on cutting edge projects and amazing people. The layoff stung a bit, I can't be grateful enough though.

Regarding "TOXIC"... You summed it up well. It has now become a dumpster fire for our customers as well (Think "micro-fulfillment" in pharmacy). From an employee standpoint, Walgreens has been garbage since Wasson's time. Long-term employees say the company used to care for employees. That "caring" Walgreens was gone by the time I started so I wouldn't know.

Walgreens is best described as TOXIC at this point. Name something good that has happened since the Roz "experiment"? Employee morale has plummeted along with the stock price. Stores have degraded to the point CVS stores are actually attractive. The brand "The Pharmacy America Trusts" is no longer applicable....nearly every encounter you have in one of their pharmacies involves finding out the prescription you were notified as being "ready" is incorrect, pharmacy system is down, POS system is down, long lines with wait times of typically 20+ minutes to simply pick up a script, and all kinds of scenarios involving irritated and upset customers. This company is now a shell of what it was....and nothing seems to indicate anything is changing....it just keeps getting worse. Incredibly sad to see.....and yet the same Board members remain (unexplainable) as well as individuals like Tracy Brown....no words or logic can explain this. Tragic......

So many loyal and talented people have left because WBA is simply toxic, tone deaf, and seemingly focused more on personalities vs performance. No company in their right mind tolerates behaviors seen with Tracey, Hsiao, Marie, etc. Hsiao was finally forced to go (along with Roz, who brought all these clowns in) but it shouldn't have stopped there. And with all that has transpired, the Board remains as is...simply outrageous. Valerie, Jan, Ginger...as starters, they should be gone. Again, self promotion seems to be highly valued at WBA....not the business so many knew as it was...The Pharmacy America Trusted. A company where employees felt appreciated, rewarded, and part of something that was good. All of that is gone.....

@1qyy+1sR7hMTa I’m not stupid and I’m talking as an employee as well. I know it’s going to take years for Walgreens to return to health. I can read financial statements and understand the weakness of our business fundamentals. This does not contradict my statement that I see a future. I’m starting to see signs of rational decision making for the first time in years.

Completely agree with @klx+1sR7hMTa. You need a job to leave...market is brutal right now and it'll take awhile to get right, unless you're willing to take pennies on the dollar.

@fug+1sR7hMTa "some of us see a future". I'm not sure what you're smoking, but I'd like a hit of that. Even with the most optimistic projections for Walgreens, it'll take several years to "get right". This means fractional bonuses (if any), low to no cost of living adjustments (raises), and little to no "big bets" (read: innovation), as we try to keep the lights on.

Just being straight with you. I say this as an employee.

The air is so fresh that you keep coming back to post about Walgreens! Move on. Some of us see a future. If you think we’re insane for doing then good for you.

Unfortunately, it does seem you have to give up your dignity and lower your expectations in order to survive at Walgreens.
