Wow, sure looks like we're ready for RTO!

@1a2 the funny part of 220 is when Mcnerney wanted to live in a chateau on Lake Minnewonka and be helicoptered to and from work every day. The other clapping seals in 220 realized it would go over so badly that someone convinced Jimbo to be chauffeured instead.

I used to refer to 220 as the Ivory Tower.

@db for the record when working remotely we are actually working doing our jobs so your comment makes no sense. I work more hours remotely and work in a home office so tell me what the difference is. NONE. Yes, plants are making products but marketing/sales are getting those sales so plants can make products. Like others stated, outsourcing is a big part of production for 3M products. Finance is the one who has to make sure transactions are correct since corporations follow high standards for accurate financial statements. All teams contribute a part of the whole process.

Here is exactly the problem the arrogant people working at the campus do nothing but look down on production and others at the plant levels. Thanks for confirming with your post. I guess we should all bow down to you. The two previous responses were spot on this is why there is such a big disconnect within the company.

@m2 I don't think you understand what "research" means. This is not true in the slightest.

@kk
Research shows lower organizational productivity with hybrid or remote work.

@j7 it might but be everyone, but the overwhelming majority of people who have been working from home successfully for years are not happy to hear that they need to come back to the office because Billy thinks he knows better than actual scientific research.

Let's not downplay the fact that this is a significant source of dissatisfaction among an already dissatisfied employee base.

It's not being done to improve productivity; it's being done to drive attrition so that we can show Wall St a more favorable balance sheet (long-term consequences be damned, because Billy Boy won't be around to reap what he's sowing).

@hz,
it isn't "crazy stupid to think 3M wouldn't exist without 3M production"; items made in plants can be outsourced. Cheaper parts, labor, etc. Don't think for a second that if the plants didn't exist, we couldn't sell product. 3M already outsources items in Mexico, China, Vietnam, Japan, etc.

Again, EVERYONE is a cog in the money-making machine known as 3M. From Marketing, Sourcing, R&D and Production. Are people whining about going back to the office, yes, but plant people are of the belief it is everyone that works on the 3M campus. It isn't.

I believe you just justified the comment that was made by the other post you are not the people whining about RTO if you are on the campus 5 days a week. And it is crazy stupid to think that 3M would exist without production what are you going to sell?

@db Awfully naive of you to think that if the plants/production floor in the US didn't exist, 3M wouldn't exist. You do realize that your job can be outsourced overseas, to Mexico, etc. While I understand that you go in the office every day, not everyone that works on the 3M campus is remote. A lot of us still work in the office five days a week. You are not the only cog in the wheel that generates money for 3M.

What does a power outage have to do with RTO being ready? You cry babies need to do 1 of 2 things go back to the office and actually do some work or quit. You don’t hear the production floor which is actually making the money for your paycheck on here crying that they have to go into work. Damn you people whining about having to go into work to actually work and earn your pay are exhausting.
