@kf actually, if you are not WFR and found a job, I think just resign.
The job market is tough nowadays, you might not find the same job if/when you get WFR.
A workmate's position was at risk. i believe, his role would have been WFR within a year or so. Instead of waiting for WFR, he resigned and took the job. I've known of friends who found their jobs average 6 mths+ of searching and headaches of experiencing rejections.
Severance is a bonus. Negotiate with your new company for the start date.
I underwent 2 layoffs for the past 9 yrs and it paid off my mortgage. :)
If you have an offer, take it. Job market is competitive and severance will run out. Don’t wait to get laid off
Your translator isn't working
Take the severance and file for unemployment benefits.
Dell will take a hit on that as more claims pile up.
Seriously Jeff?!
I'm waiting for a severance and hoping to be able to get a new job before severance runs out. My brother's company gave him an 8 month severance. He got a new job within a week and used the extra cash to take his family on a European vacation with.
ALWAYS wait for a severence. Those who either think or know they are on the "list" to be let go are literal ID--TS to quit. They are leaving free money on the table that dell HAS to pay out.
If I understand correctly, you are saying that there is an opening at a different company that is available in 2 years? WHY TF would you quit a job until you have a new job lined up?
From your writing, I can tell you are perfect for Dell. Stay there.
