No longer has to be a paid day any more, folks!

@hx Google “gardening leave,” it’s incredibly common.
@ke It's entirely to avoid legal issues. The paperwork and severance info as well highlights how much they don't care.
@ke Finally someone with an ounce of brain around here.
If the paid leave is through end of July, that's 60 days notice of a layoff and it's probably to avoid issues with the WARN Act, given the number of people who have been laid off lately...it's to protect the company from potential litigation, not a "free vacation" or "doing the right thing."
@hx the thing is, they actually are giving paid admin leave for employees who were laid off due to corporate restructuring/realignment. I'd be surprised if the employees fired during the fraud purge received anything though.
@h9 it's not about what I think they should do vs what they shouldn't. I am simply assessing reality on the site where speculation and fake rumors run amok. No company out there gives you paid admin leave for few months just so you can chill. And especially not the one whose leadership is looking to eliminate waste and fraud.
@gc what do you think Fannie should do instead? Throw ppl to the wolves? I think it's great that they're at least trying to give people extra time to figure out their next steps.
@gk what are you smoking?
@gb - agile eh… so basically all Indian moms/housewives on H4 EAD .. so saaad
@gc ….and that makes FM an empathetic employer that cares for the people. This is a RIF situation. Doing this gives folks some time to fend for themselves…a small cushion to look for alternative opportunities. There could be a package as well.
It could have happened to anyone.
Other departments may be impacted in the coming weeks.
@gc you can apply for other jobs in fanniemae during admin leave
That sounds like an extra vacation. Absolute nonsense. There is absolutely no reason for them to do something like that. You are either needed or you are not. They are not paying you to sit home. They wouldn't do something like this even during good times, let alone now.
Roughly 50 people (mostly FTE) from COO tech. Mostly FTEs / Agile non dev staff.
@g3 admin leave means you will get paid (I think you will be on payroll and employed by FM), but no access to FM network.
Yeah wtf is admin leave?
What do you mean by admin leave???
MF Tech got impacted today (Friday). At least from the immediate team
I support, 3 FTE’s and 3 Contractors got laid off today. I was literally talking to them onsite here in RTC yesterday (Thursday)
@ad - this pulta knows how to do work?
Yep. Admin leave until late July. Idk how many people were let go tho
@a5 yes admin leave till end of July
Madam , please stop wasting your time and do minimum work while looking for other opportunities.
I mean today or tomorrow any layoffs
