Thread regarding Optum layoffs

1-2% pay raise???

Why people stay at United or Optum is beyond me. 1-2% pay raises each year... laughable. Lowering of benefits... ? The surveys that nobody bothers reading.

I see the long term employees and their work ethic. After receiving the annual increase I can now understand why their work is commensurate with their pay raises. Is this how the board and C-suite justify their outsourcing initiatives? They pay substandard and their retention levels are low so they push congress as hard as possible for outsourcing? quite the racket..

They had so many employees complain this year that they held special meetings regarding the issues and the CEOs speech regarding inflation. Of course nothing has come of it so I decided to quit . I advise others to do the same. Give the organization poor reviews on all sites and ensure its public knowledge that they do not value their employees. Amazon.. here I come!!!!

Persevere and work towards the next job. When your number is called, take your package, and start the new gig.

Yes, propaganda was a powerful dr-g. Just look at the people who people what they see and hear on the "news"...no critical thinking skills or asking tough questions. just parrots. mockingbirds.

It never ceases to amaze us that corporate simps will be so happy when the corporation gives them corporate logo stickers, coffee mugs, caps, socks instead of more money and real benefits. It goes to show ya, that anyone can be bought off with cheap company junk.

Phone has been buzzing today from the fallout of a meeting had yesterday.
The meeting was called because the simp manager is not impressed with our department logging onto teams at 7:35 while working from home when we're supposed to be clocking on at 7:30 (this simply means that we're starting our workday at 7:30 and it takes a few minutes for our computer to load up, the same as in the office).

His response to this "issue" is to call a meeting at of course the end of the day where he says if the issue isn't fixed we'll have to go back to the office and pay the huge gas prices and waste time/energy.

This statement was made as the clock hit 5, to which I said "noted and I will observe the new requirements in future, but I need to finish on time today as my resume needs updating. Thanks for your time and goodbye."

Now I'm getting tons of messages from teammates saying the simp manager is seething that I "threatened" him.

Whatever happened to "t-t for tat" at that corporate american dump?

Maybe we need to form a union and have real employment rights like practically every other Westernized county on Earth. Just a thought

Working there is like a car that only goes in reverse. It's a bad joke and mimics what the populace wants.

You got a pay DECREASE. The 1-2% increase is NOT a raise. Inflation is ~8%. You got a 6-7% pay Decrease.. Please refrain from calling it a "raise." That type of reasoning is suggestive of indoctrination, US empire propaganda and psy ops. Thank you.

The employee stock purchase plan was cut and large increases to medical premium. They also cut the executive savings plan matching but that only impacts salary grade 31 and up. These weren't huge cuts but big enough to outweigh the tiny 1-2% annual raises. So going backwards even before you consider inflation.

What benefits did they cut? I happily left months ago and feel bad for my friends still there.

Along with piling on the workload for that 1-2% increase, they require to stack rank and downgrade an employee to upgrade another on the annual reviews as only so many employees are approved to get a 4 and no one is allowed to give a 5 and we are always advised of that. As managers we are told 3 is pointing to the employee doing a great job BUT that is linked to a set percent of the bonus potential- it is a rigged system and it’s incredibly sickening I have to do this every year. “ you were a model employee who went above and beyond and here’s your 1% increase that equals a 7% reduction in pay this year”. Horrible

And everytime they do give you that sorry a-- increase they pile more responsibility on you. Every year it happens. This company has so many lawsuits I think they payout more just to stay in business. I haven't yet seen a good corporations to work for. They're all the same.
