Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

RTO - Does anybody actually stay for more than a few hours?

ALL they care about are badge swipes. That's it. Swipe your badge and you get a gold star for "going to the office."

But does anyone ACTUALLY stay for a full workday? I mean, I drive an hour to the office and stay for 1.5-2 hours and then go home because why stay? Cafeteria food prices are way more expensive than ever and none of the food is not worth the price. One person on my actual team goes to my office and we both leave at the same time. Which is typically 11:30-12pm.

@kd Yes put in office visit statistics for your entire team are reported to your boss's boss and if they are low your boss has to explain why.

What is RTO? Never heard of it and I don’t care. Would never comply or voluntarily expose myself to such narcissistic abuse.

Management: I DON’T CARE =)

The policy has always been that it is up to your manager. It is clearly written out

@ex Most of the docks in office are integrated into the monitors. The ones that aren't though are disappearing at an alarming rate ;)

All I know is they now have productivity tools that show where people are and how they are working which is probably why they are dumping the badge in report

@ef Until they (very unlikely) start tracking time spent in office and make that an official policy, a full workday in office is whatever TF i choose it to be. Until then, i'll continue working in office for 2 hours/day and continue working when i get home.

Sorry your lame execs force you to do 8 hours in office buddy. Su-ks for you!

@ef Settle down mr big britches, I'm very very likely older than you lol... It has nothing to do with being "lazy" and everything to do with why stay in an office when nobody you work with is there? Has everything to do with wasting gas simply to swipe a badge to appease the execs which is to then appease JC. My orgs execs dgaf about RTO but because at some point, someone does report to JC, they HAVE to care about badge swipes.

You sound upset and jealous that not everyone HAS to be in office 8 hours/day...If I had to guess, you are in sales and your execs require you to be in office 8 hours/day LOL... SU---R! So sad, too bad. Have fun with your amazing new CSP while you're at it!

@OP It's not about being in the office, it's about getting you to quit.

I mean, like you said all they look for are those badge swipes... There is no policy or mandate that states we HAVE to be in office all day because "dell is a flexible company"

They state that "you are expected to work a regular workday 5 days/week in office" but, what exactly is a "full workday?"

Until it's stated that they are tracking our in-office time, I will be working for 2 hours in office at most. If they choose to start tracking time then I'll start bringing my gaming computer to work, and... game... because I don't have 8 hours of work in any given day to actually do.

Or, I will just leave my corporate computer in a drawer as it will be connected to vpn 24/7. I don't need or use my corp system anyways.
