Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Oil prices

So how is the American public going to react when we pull out of the Iran war without opening the straight up. People have hinted that prices will come down. But they won’t because the US is tied to world supply and demand. So now the other countries are physically supposed to solve the problem we created? WTF? No wonder young intelligent people want to leave this country.

Oil prices have already come down. They were $118 a barrel. Now they’re $88 and falling. That should make you happy! When was the price $118 a barrel you say? In June, 2022. By the way, it’s Strait, not straight. Read this post fast. The moderators don’t like it. I posted the same thing 48 hours ago and I’m surprised that it lasted as long as it did before they removed it.

@k9+1kn36bp5z - You are right there is no draft. The age was raised to 42 for being able to enlist in certain service branches such as the Army.

@ht+1kn36bp5z - Thank you for saying it like it is. Everyone should be up in arms that our country plays protector all the time. Yes, there are many things that play into it, but having a war with Iran affects us all, and the fact they just upped the draft age should concern us all. I am older and the last thing I want to see is my kids and grandkids drafted into something like Vietnam. I saw an interview from the 60's today of a reporter asking a young soilder what he would tell people 50 years from then. The young soilder came back and said parents don't let your kids fight the politicains wars. This came from someone probably younger than 20, and probably the best advice anyone could give.

Good question but ruined by unnecessary comment about young people. All citizens should genuinely ask if we really needed this war? There is no one else supporting us than Israel and that says a lot. The western media is not covering it truthfully but we are definitely not winning. This problem can soon become real bad if any of the oil infrastructure in Middle East is attacked. We at the end of the day will pay with high gas and everything prices. From speech yesterday it looks like the orange one has no dang plan or clue.

So where will the young and intelligent people go? Talk is big and very seldom do people exit the USA in masses. I know many are frustrated, but running away is not the fix. How about staying around and being an adult and vote for change. The bigger issue is how many people in the next five years or less will lose their jobs to AI. When the US has an unemployment rate of 7-8% then people will have less time to complain and be trying to stay employed. Everything else is just noise and people better wake up and realize we are in for some tough times ahead with AI taking jobs. All these people that say AI will not cost people jobs are the ones that set financially or they are pushing AI from a position of power that insures their success. Just look at the recent news out of Oracle and the layoffs there. Is does not matter if gas is 10.00 a gallon if you need that 10.00 just to eat and survive. Focus on what matters.
