Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Leadership has stopped pretending

Even senior leaders appear unable to credibly defend the current direction. All-hands meetings lack conviction, and there is a widespread belief that employees are being financially and professionally constrained with little effort to soften the message.

@k5 The level of leadership that gets paid on demand sets the goals and pay plans for those who only get paid on shipped. Managers struggle but VPs aren’t losing anything financially.

@k5 you need to appreciate that Dell is paying the minimum wage in some countries (fact). So additional commission makes a huge difference to these people. Not everyone gets the opportunity to climb the Dell ladder as career progression is mostly suppressed. What I’m saying, while this POS SCP affects all, including the sales leaders, the lowest paid are the worst off. Not saying Dell should be a charity, these people are still creating a lot of revenue/margin to a +$100b company!

Most of our sales management, directors and even VPs don't get paid until THEY get to 60% either, and how many of them actually do when none of us are? It su-ks for them too, I'm thinking. At least we don't have to look a sales team in the face and defend this garbage.

It's because the bad treatment of the staff is now just become the norm. Looking at the messaging from 5 years ago, senior mgmt would probably say it's false news.

This is the famous company culture in action; look at something that talks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, but pretend it's actually a goose laying golden eggs.

And if somebody dares to point out the obvious fact that it's actually a duck, they're soon gone.

I both blame them and don't. This is apparently how top leadership wants to run the company and the message seems to be clear; take it or leave it.

@OP, not from what I have seen. They are all soulless ba----ds. Only worried about themselves and their good ol' boy network. Once you are in the club, they take care of you. Reminds me of a movie I watched where they hired the slaves to manage the slaves.

Senior Leaders are given orders. These orders aren't against the law. Then, they need to talk in low, calming tones to sell it to the people. I don't know what the heck else they can do? Quit in protest? Seriously, what can they do? They have families, mortgages, car payments too. We have turned a corner to more cost cutting under the guise of making people seemingly work harder/smarter. Perhaps either companies will see the opportunity to poach talent to a better life. I am not holding my breath.

You can't even shane these a-holes to improve their performance. They simply DO NOT CARE! And they are protected from ever taking any responsibility or accountability for their clusters.

Lots of looking down and to the right, you will also see shifting eyes, increased swallowing, lip licking, and fidgeting.

You can see it in their eyes. Blank stares. They are saying take it or leave i.
