Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Is Your Store Dangerous? Mine Is.

I just want to know if everyone else has the same experience of Lowe’s safety that I have in our store.

Does your store delay and even ignore repairs? Our store has had a sliding door that has been damaged for MONTHS. It’s being held together with what looks like a ratchet strap. It was damaged a long time ago but it’s still sitting there. You can barely close the door. I’ve watched managers struggle to lock it at night.

We had an incident the other day where we were locked in the store with a leaking propane tank. All night we were inside with it leaking and filling the store. When the ASMs and Store Manager left for the night, their advice was “don’t light a match”. The store was EVACUATED the next day because of excess carbon monoxide. I guess the customers matter more than the workers.

We have multiple damaged shelving that have waited months to be repaired. The sliding gates in the store are a mess. They put up a danger sign on one because it’s so dangerous to your hands when you open and close it.

There’s also a receiving door that has been damaged since LAST YEAR that still hasn’t been fixed.

Is this normal for a Lowe’s store? It seems dangerous around here and I want to know if everyone else has to put up with this sh!t.

Imo, lowes would rather pay out injury or death than spend money to maintain actual safety.
Operations in general for lowes has completely been dismantled and forgotten about over the years.
Operations now a days is, "does it look good for a photo?"

It’s all about the Benjamins. From what I understand it takes someone in management (possibly an ASM or higher) to put in a request via service channel to get it fixed. My theory is that they (particularly the stores) just don’t want to spend the money. I have reported some items dozens of times at my location but nothing ever happens. I can’t divulge too much as I don’t want them to figure out which store I am at but there are places that we have been running essential equipment/work stations off of extension cords for years, have an exterior emergency exit door that is not connected to the alarm system (which means the Mag-lock will NOT release the door no matter how long you press the bar or will any alarm get triggered), have lifts that are supposed to get annual recertification’s but never have, etc. Not my problem! However should someone die because they can’t get out an emergency exit that will make for a very good lawsuit.

@k5 Trump pretty much deleted OSHA, so good luck with that.
