Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Why are the executives going to Sea Island for their “retreat”

so you are going to layoff people yet spend $1200 a night to have an executive retreat at the exclusive Sea Island ? Sarah is this transparency? which Hoodie will you bring ?
come on - for the expensive of the private planes, private dinners and exclusive spa treatments - you could be saving jobs and helping MEDICAID members

Former Wellcare, briefly Centene, out the door in mid-2020, still a shareholder so here's my perspective from that.
*The company is NOT making money, thus this Sea Island deal should be downscaled big time to an onsite meeting in the Tampa/Clearwater area. Lots of nice resorts on the west coast. If I recall, on the former WellCare campus there was a high tech meeting room that could accommodate quite a few people, but perhaps it was let go over the past two years.
*I don't know why the activist shareholder Politan Capital is even permitting it (trust Cynical, they ARE calling the shots) unless they are giving Ms. London a lot of rope
*Based on news from another thread, the consultants are coming in. This may be a way to sugar coat the fact that a lot of the management attendees will no longer be there in 6 months to a year.

For those who are anti-cubie culture, the fact that Centene is divesting real estate left and right apparently also is a change of tune on remote work. This is a good thing.

My personal prediction is that Centene will be downsized and sold within 2 years. Politan wants its money and generally this is within 2 years, so the clock is ticking. One scenario is that the services are spun out to a separate company (see what 3M is doing). For the plans, a likely buyer may be Cigna, or it may be parted out and parts sold to multiple entities including wealthier providers like Northwell. It'll be in the way that makes the most money for Politan.

BTW does anyone know how much of the company is owned by the Neidorff estate and how it is owned?

I am new to this website, but I don’t understand why the location of the executive retreat is such a secret and why one person seems so upset that someone is asking about it. Why wasn’t the upcoming retreat discussed at the Town Hall meeting this week? If the company is making money and keeping all the promises they made to state governments for Innovation, Telemedicine and Medical Programs for the members of the health plans, then the executive leaders deserve to go to a luxury resort and treat themselves. But when they are cutting whole departments that support Innovation and letting go nurses, doctors, social workers, quality people and care managers in order to make financial goals, then that is a problem. If you have to layoff people, then maybe a Marriott that can be reached by a commercial flight is a better choice than a 5 star luxury resort which must be reached by a private plane. The leaders of this company entrusted with tax dollars and are tasked with running government-sponsored insurance programs. If the leaders are using tax payer money for an expensive leadership team building event, then they should be open about it and share than information with the employees. In the mean time, the employees who are still left at the company will scramble to cover the increased workload which is a result of their co-workers being let go without cause.

@1gni+1hIaYHk6, why are you even here? Feel free to leave this board. I didn’t write this post, but given the nature of this board, employees can complain and discuss whatever is on their mind! Don’t like it? Skip it! Or better yet, don’t come to this website! Weirdo!

so now that the “mass layoffs 7/14” hysteria has turned out to be just that, you’re on to whining about something else. news flash: executives from ANY company meet in high-end locations. the constant pi----g and moaning on this board is embarrassing.

@icj+1hIaYHk6V I hate to burst your bubble, but I am not a "paid executive" who made that post, but a current employee. If people are posting extremely detailed posts about the CEO, the Govenor, he-l, even my neighbor, engaging in erroneous expenditure that are contradictory to statements they have made it's not that incredulous to ask what source they are getting this information from, yes? I can make up anything about any executive of any company at any time on a forum that caters to people unsure of their jobs and probability of layoffs to create mass hysteria, anger, frustration towards leadership. Show me your source and all is well. Sadly, I don't think it exists. Let me know when you or the original OP find it!

I am so outraged. Who hired Sara the CEO and how can we fire her? I don't see anything positive she has done. She is the Accidental CEO. New board gave her the position so they could maximize their investment. She is destroying a company in months that Mr. Neidorff spent his life building. So sad.
