Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

What Dell should do IMO only

I feel bad for everyone that will be let go this week.

I just wish they would let managers manage and they could probably handle the span increase or increase it more.

And let the people who can do the work, do the work.

To me, it’s that simple. Quit promoting people who are good at their job into leadership/mgmt roles. Let them keep doing what they do well. Leading/managing people is an art just as doing a job well takes skill.

The bad thing about layoffs now is they are controlled by HR with little or no input from management. This changed dramatically when Dell bought EMC. It used to be the managers and executives had some input now. Now there is no rhyme or reason to cuts. Someone who has been here 6 months or a rock star for 25 years can both released for no reason.

OP here: My ideas def don’t align with Dell’s. I hope they figure it out before they find themselves worse off.

Your idea of leading/managing success may be different than Dell's idea.
