Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

How do you handle your line manager who uses any excuses to pick on you.

I have never experienced this in other companies. I guess he just does not like me. I have good relationship with my stakeholders and other team members.

Post ID: @owv+1qySFd9P You mean birds of a feather flock together. DVMB, INCOMLETENT people hire other Dvmb Incompetent people. The same goes for ethnicity. Look at who the People Managers are and down their reporting line. Unless the People Manager is caucasian there's little to NO diversity. They hire and play favoritism, cronyism with their own kind. This is because the caucasian People Managers were ordered by Citi mandate to hire a diverse team. The rules and laws do Not apply to those who are Not caucasian. I'm Not singling out specific or only a few ethnicities. All the People Managers do it unless the People Managers are caucasian because again, Citi ordered them to hire diverse teams. It's sort of ironic that the diverse teams are those whose Managers are caucasian.

Collect your evidence and sue. Don’t be afraid to go public either and name names. Citi legal knows all to well how to settle out of court. They’ve had plenty of practice at it.

To Post ID: @wbh+1qvultFU Thanks Citi Legal Department or Citi HR for trying to avoid litigation against Citi. NOT !!! How about this classic scenario for the Original Poster: The OP finds a better job outside of Citi WHILE Simultaneously suing Citi for the abuse, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, No action etc. etc. so that the OP can collect Millions of Dollars in settlement money from Citi AND collect a better Salary, Benefits etc. from the OP's new Employer !!! Also, the OP can get paid for doing interviews with media outlets and news reporters. LOL !!!

Here’s a classic move. Start looking for a job now. Volunteer for all the hard, difficult stuff. When you find a job make sure its a solid offer and take it. Once all the paperwork is signed, leave Citi with as much notice as they’d give you if you were laid off. When you are asked as to why, let them know your manager was toxic and created a hostile work environment and that you’ve been advised to not say anymore than that.

To the OP and Post ID: @drk+1qvultFU You need to get an Employment Lawyer, NOT just any lawyer but a Lawyer who specializes in Employment Law, Plaintiff/Employee Side. Not Management Side Employment Law. You said you have evidence and documentation of harassment, abuse, discrimination and Citi's Retaliation and Citi's No Action. This makes your case all the more stronger and even if you do Not have ample evidence. Employment Lawyers will take your case on contingency meaning they get paid Only when you get paid a settlement by Citi. There are thousands of Plaintiff side Employment Lawyers out there who will take your case and especially against a bully and joke Zombie"bank" like Citi. The negative PR and media coverage will further hit Citi's stock price and already bad reputation. Now, watch and cue for the downvotes for This Post from obviously Citi HR, Line "Managers" and Executive "Management". ROTFLMFAO!!!!!!!!!

BTW, the only way a person can "change" a company is by finding a new job :D You have to realize that HR escalation is not the right way. Same with buying things from the store - you punish low quality products by not buying them and hope the company will either improve or go bankrupt... So punish the company by not working from them and hopefully if enough people avoid them they will realize they have to change something.

I agree with you 100%. It may be worse if we report it.

I have the evidences and that's why I am so angry about it. However, what can I do? Raising it with HR will make me look like a "problem child" and deepen rift, it will impact my internal movement. The system and culture are designed against the employee.

Report them with all details to ethics for Citi online. Their manager and one up will get copy and employee relations will shine a spotlight on them. They will be reluctant to keep up the behavior. They will likely get RIF as well.

Post ID: @jov+1qvultFU: how do you define good performance in a large corporation? Many times it is plain old brown-nosing that counts as good performance, being the manager's pet, not actually doing your job well.

Everyone cribs on managers. But without evidence or examples it is hard to decide whether it’s your performance problem or manager problem. Does any manager mistreat a high performer ? So there is always two sides of the coin.

I'm experiencing the same....everyone respects and is kind to me except my manager who has been rude to me since the moment he arrived last year. So much for Citi not being a place of "intimidation and harassment." Is it even worth it to file a HR complaint?

Post ID: @aaa+1qvultFU: unfortunately, the proportion of inadequate managers in specific population groups is much higher. And that is not inherent, just a matter of upbringing/culture...

I came from Big 4 consulting, I still struggle to work with my team (rude, unprofessional no empathy and stuck in their brains). Just hanging in for a right opportunity.

@tFU - what if you have a low rating from your line manager while you have high ratings on other area and excellent feedback from your colleagues and clients? Will this affect the internal transfer?

It happened to me. My manager treated his other directs with far more respect. I was the only non Indian in the group, so I felt out of place and moved teams.

Agree with kbj. Nothing you can do except find another job. Stay professional, also until your tiny comes to bolt.

Unfortunately nothing much you can do about it. Be patient, insist on being evaluated fairly and try to find another job.
