Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

How are the G-B Stores doing?

Have the stores been getting non stop deliveries of pallets of merchandise to sell off along with its currently own goods? Positions starting to open up at nearby locations to help colleagues who want to stay with the company? I know fixture sales will probably start beginning in Febuary. Hope everyone is doing OK. Closing a location can be fun.

" When one door closes, another door opens." Get the negativity of closing your Store and losing your job and turn it into a positive result. Just sayin'....

Only fun is for the STM and PL’s that will reap a huge liquidation bonus at the end of March. The liquidators will be the ones laughing all the way to the bank.

AND you'll find a lot of stuff made in the USA. You'll get stuff of good quality and some "backstage" looking product no matter where the stuff is made, every country has it's good stuff and cheap stuff. So let's not pull the "R" card. Okay?

Wow... looks like the attitudes of the closing stores are not good. I understand the the stressfulness of closing a location ( as I have closed about 5 stores myself and YES I was an associate at those locations ) but you have to look at it in another way. Yes your Store is closing but look at all the opportunities that opening up for you. Also the "new" merchandise your getting (although may be not stuff your Store usually carries) but you do find some cool stuff. Just enjoy the time your having with the people your working with. I was lucky to be in locations where the management team were supportive and mindful of the situation at hand. If your location is having a hard time with the closure, then maybe it is time for a change in yourself. Good luck.

Crazy long lines when the liquidators start putting items at 60%, 70%, 80%+ off. It will be like Christmas everyday at your store come February.

In the 18 years I've been at this store this is the least fun I've had.

Nothing fun about closing a store you worked in for years while stressing over what you’ll do next, watching people just walk out with stuff and you can’t do anything about it, and customers coming in offering well wishes when you’d really wish they wouldn’t. Yeah that’s real fun.
