Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

Is the change to extended leave a positive or negative thing?

I don't understand if this is a good change, or bad.

My understanding: We will get 7 days for PTO in event of illness and the STD starts on Day 8. That is 26 weeks. Then no unpaid extended leave, correct?

What would be the underlying cause of such changes?

I would say the difference is pre-covid, you would go to school AND work sick on the regular. My kids went to school with bad colds and I definitely came to the office more ill than I should have. Those things are frowned upon now.

@jh what are “dimensional entities”?

@h1 your inane toxicity is beyond comprehension. When someone questions your observations and uses insults to justify and doubt an unfortunate situation. That’s called gas lighting…clearly you need more cuddles and attention. Stop the insults and observe your surroundings. Also note that the observer can affect surroundings.

Either way. There are elevated levels of stress and non collegial (to put lightly) behavior.
Let’s invite some dimensional entities that are effective in helping bring this point forward.

@e3 I'm going to ignore the oile of grabage you wrote and just address one claim - "it's an observable fact"...where? Across how big of a sample? What's the frequency? Parents hormones? You're a worthless cretin as i said. GFYS, again :*

I think the posts below perfectly illustrate that bp has a serious employee/contributor issue that is impacting health, safety, and productivity!

How will this be addressed? More remote support? More stock options? Laying off and massive fresh hiring?

bp is on its heels, ne on its deathbed, because of massive failures and catastrophically bad leadership that have nearly destroyed the company. It is not people's low morale and bad attitudes that are the root cause, they are the consequence of bp so consistently effing up over the years (i.e., TxC, the spill, bertard and netzero, plus many, many other unforced errors).

@dp stating an observable fact is now a thought crime? FU.

There wasn’t a judgment on parents or their priorities.
Just that there is a categorically high incidence of illness and congenital issues post Covid. Whether attributed to X, Y, Z I’m not qualified to comment. Maybe it’s the parents stress levels affecting offspring hormones.

Your response illustrates the frustration and toxicity that you and many coworkers manifest and is palpable…one of the reasons that BP is on its heels and 2 steps behind the curve.

2026 is going to be transformative….using your false speech…

The Day Care is real…the layout…the architecture reeks of some post university woke safe space…even the Friends TV show furniture…certainly not achieving the objective of collaboration and competitive performance…

WFH Monday and Friday is counter productive and resulting in communication and cultural gaps…only the powerful HR ladies want to work from home so they can be closer to their cats and stinky yoga mats…I bet this work schedule is going to change soon.

Share with us the deteriorating work life balance situation?

When your on Teams 6 hours a day and there is still ambiguity on objectives and direction…

So yeah…with layoffs, attrition, stress induced chronic fatigue, rudderless and uninspiring leadership…keep working

Don’t be hostile to the messenger…
Have a blessed Tuesday

@bj despicable? Not an insinuation!
An observable and unfortunate fact for bp new parents post Covid in Houston.
Far higher incidence of congenital medical issues…

These benefits are way generous and creates significant costs and operating challenges.

The bp Daycare is over!!!
2026 going to be a very chaotic year…
So all hands on deck!!!

BTW notice that recent children born from bp parents have elevated chronic illnesses and diseases? Every team has multiple parents that are constantly attending to children’s health issues? Anybody care to share why this appears to be a trend?
