I got cut today (Tuesday 3/26). My long-standing manager went through a formal script with me. After spending 8 months training a new resource, I was informed that my role was being eliminated (oh, what a word). I had a ton of work on my plate, there are three critical things that got transfered to me but still, they decided to cut me. Now, I do not see folks on visas being cut which makes no sense, you'd want to keep citizens, right? The whole point of having people on visas is to fill the roles that you cannot find citizens for. But, alas, here we are turning this principle upside-down.
I am 62 which probably contributed to this, they were probably thinking that it does not pay to continue to invest in me - but then why did they hire me in the first place at all.
