Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Exporting our best

Let’s stop pretending; our talents are leaving not because they don’t love,they are leaving because they are not loved. If we don’t fix our mindset, we will be exporting our brightest - absolutely free of charge…

@jm No, but I am involved in reality. Racial quotas are not a thing because they’re illegal, and some picture taken on a college campus isn’t something that any reasonable person would view as evidence to the contrary.

If you don’t want to be around women or people of color, move to some island in Norway. The rest of us (most white guys included) function just fine in modern society. Take your DEI problems elsewhere. Nobody here gives AF or wants to deal with you about it.

@jp Yawn….

This is just the constant whining of a closeted bigot who can’t bear to be in an enclosed space with anyone who he doesn’t identify with. Been there, done that.

@jt dei isn’t just about blacks and the quotas aren’t set that way. It is all the groups you would expect that are minorities including white women.

@jm name 3 black people you know at work that are in supervisor roles directly in your business line.

Name 2 black people in your organization.

Name 1 black person on your team.

How do that for the whyte side.

Ya? That's that i thought. DEI my azzzzz

@jm Is this, like, the only Internet forum you have access to? Most of us are here to try and get some info on pip/layoffs/salaries. As far as I can tell all you’ve done is whine incessantly about DEI. Just take it somewhere else guy. Nobody here wants to read about it or argue with you.

I’m sorry that DEI ruined your life, but the vast majority of us seem to be doing just fine. Find a hobby and hug your grandkids.

@j8 you clearly haven’t been involved in recruiting, assessment meetings, or staffing and development at this company. Quotas are definitely alive and well and merit comes second to hitting the quotas. Just go on LinkedIn and look at the UNC training course photos being posted to see quotas in action.

@gh We’re not talking about professional athletes, we’re talking about basic office work. There’s no special ability that goes with entering numbers into SAP sending out a Zoom invite.

Compare apples to apples.

@h0 There’s no such thing as a DEI quota bruh.

This is combination of imagined BS and clever use of divisive language by right-leaning counter-elites.

I’m happy to tell you that as a white guy, I don’t feel oppressed or even remotely threatened by DEI, and you shouldn’t either.

"Love"?
It's now and always has been a Commodity Company running off expropriated natural resources and government subsidies.

I don't know what love is, but that ain't it.

@gy privilege does exist but basing it only on skin color is a joke. I grew up poor and white. Section 8 housing. Dr-g use by adults in my life. Unstable home life. My white skin didn’t do a whole lot for me and certainly there are non whites who had more privilege than I did but you just want to base it all on skin color. DEI quotas are unfair. Life isn’t fair. The difference between you and me is you think laws and the government can fix things and I think the government just sc--ws things ip and makes them worse. The less the government does the better. Quit trying to write a law for everything. The laws just backfire and do not work anyway.

Am ex collegiate Division 1 athlete, competitor to my core, so will respond to question w/a sports metaphor. I support “best player plays” and the application of that concept to corp America. Don’t care abt race, gender, religion, age, tenure, height, S-x preference, culture, family connection, etc. Focused on talent needed to WIN.

Anybody who believes the privilege doesn’t exist has head in the sand or is a slow learner.

@ed He’s just repeating disinformation.

He started appearing on this board some time ago (want to say a year) when an email went out about inclusivity at work. Apparently, this caused his mind to snap, and he’s been on here complaining about DEI ever since. He seems to have issues with women, people of color, and white men who don’t agree with his world view.

@d7

You have the biggest unearned advantage that goes unquestioned — whyte privilege that is perfectly justifiable.. uh, right. You heavily scrutinize, discredit, discount the competency of others who don’t look like you and hold deep seated bias taught since young age. DEI is abt broadening the talent pool to include diverse qualified candidates because people like you with your whyte privilege deem others to be inferior. There are multiple dimensions to DEI, your perspective narrowly focuses on race & maybe gender. The “real leaders” referenced have politicized DEI fueling division. Do your research, diverse teams perform better — leave your cult card home and check your prejudice at the door next time you go to work. The era of the homogenous workplace is done.

@d0

“functioning adults”

I’m willing to bet I have been adulting longer than you have been alive.

Perhaps you are one of those groups that needed a helping hand. Couldn’t make it on your own merit?

Fortunately the real leaders are seeing the disaster that is DEI.

Good luck with that “bro”

“If not then chill TF out.”

How about no.

DEI is a major issue where I work. When you hire and promote people solely on their race or gender you are not getting the best talent.

I suppose discrimination is ok if it is only against white males.

@c2 Are you attempting to insinuate that you have masterful command of the English language? I see no evidence for that in the text of your post.

Curious how complaints about facility with the English language are only directed towards India, and not Hungary or Buenos Aires. I wonder what makes the latter two different? Lighter skin perhaps?

Look at EMIT LTs and ask yourself if any of them are any talented. Unsurprising, the majority of them are women too if you want to mention DEI.

Leaving o&g - bit of a niche field. That said what I found on the market is there are plenty of places interested in EM employees. The people on here who claim we have no marketable skills don't know what they are talking about.

@bd More whining about DEI….

1) It takes very little talent to do any O&G office job.

2) Nobody with actual talent or brains (of any persuasion) is coming into O&G. It is widely and correctly viewed as a professional dead end.

3) The place isn’t even all that diverse.

@OP There’s no talent guy.

It doesn’t take a lot of skill to make entries into SAP, bounce spreadsheets around, and copy/paste slides from one PPT to another one. Get TF over yourselves once and for all.

We are not only losing our most experienced and talented individuals.

We are replacing them with DEI hires and people half a continent away who barely grasp the English language.

The Upper Echelon must really have high opinions of themselves if they think they are good enough to control everything.
