Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Are we an oil company or a PSMS training company

New business line announced! PSMS for the win! How many people and hours are spent on PSMS? We should have a separate job code for PSMS. The PSMS monstrosity just keeps growing bigger and bigger and bigger.

if our incident rate was based on actual working/productive hours instead of total hours expended (bloated by all the overall site supervision, non productive time, etc.), we would not be very highly ranked. Our $ labor spend/$ material installed is among the worst in the industry.

@bt I would love to see the data. Show us the data! And none of the famous data manipulation our planners are famous for please. Also need to account for the fact the lat XTO didn’t know how to play the game when it comes to safety reporting

But PSMS is good for management photo ops and social media posts so we have that going for us

WMS/PSMS I’m sure helps on insurance claims and costs. But how it’s been implemented and who has implemented all of this say since 2020 has fallen short. I don’t want to discredit all people in safety. There are some folks putting in an honest days work but it has to be exhausting biting your tongue day in and day out. I will just say that’s a very corrupt group that doesn’t bring any value back to the BUs as a whole. Midland UNcON the deployment of everything and dealing with Pioneer all in one lump. Several of us if we could would have walked away.

I call it pms m. Exxon thinks they can make a dysfunctional workplace safe. It doesn't work because exxon promotes the boot li---r that know nothing about safety and process. The supervisors are clueless and only know what exxon tells them. If an exxon procedure told you to put your hand into a moving part the supervisor would think it is the correct and safe thing to do. Think of lemmings falling off a cliff. Exxon is the only major oil producer to not have at least one fatality a year.

@OP this is another example of how the company cares about you

The system is just a big safety hoax.

The real purpose is to be able to identify the boot lickers for promotion.

If you can argue the good merits of the PSMS system you surely will be a good yes man.

@OP None of the above.

You’re an administrative smokescreen designed to enable executives to maximize their personal wealth while avoiding tax liability.

Every business decision made by these people makes perfect sense when viewed from this perspective.

I am in the field…. Is all an act out here.
Some potential Oscar worthy performances out here.
You do well if you play the game. We all know what EM managers want when they come out on paired field PSMS tours.

Just give them what they want and you’ll be a ⭐️

Don’t forget your magical LMRA and LSRA cards. They will save your life. 🤣🤣
I can’t believe they actually think people stop while they are working to read a card.
I am all for safety, but they take it too far!

Better relative to LPS. Less paperwork.
I welcome not having to write an NLI for missing earplugs.

On paper makes sense, at the field level absolute joke, no one is using it

Not sure which overpaid clown from GO&S dreamed it up, they need some field time

Is there any data to back up it being better or are all the hours spent in PSMS just reducing time on tools and therefore reducing injuries because no one is working!

PSMS is better than LPS. I’ll take that win for now.
Remember that managers need a job.

@OP how dare anyone say anything negative about PSMS. The company has spent loads of money in a program to keep you safe.

If you can’t appreciate that, then maybe you should phyuck off

PSMS is a great system

Well, it’s because they went and did what Exxon does and can’t resist. They put metrics on it even though they said they wouldn’t. And yes, they use those metrics in performance assessment.

Good ole pissm’s also known as PSMS. What a waste of money and resources. If they would actually hire competent people they wouldn’t need endless safety training.
