What is happening in Australia? How many employees impacted? All moving to Woodside?

Wait until people on both sides of this transition start realising how many of EM’s benefits are ‘discretionary’…. income protection insurance, fuel discount, gym subsidy, travel allowance, car allowance, superannuation fees, novated lease, the list goes on. It will all be on the chopping block for both Woodside & Mobil.

The Aus redundancy programs are so generous because of a historic agreement between Esso and the ACTU/unions. Those left with Mobil after this transition may be lucky to get anything more than the minimum NES entitlements next time around…

The redundancy package is good but that’s only because Australia have strong labour laws. ExxonMobil do not like UK, Europe, Australia or anywhere that has labor laws that ensure people are not exploited

This is possible one of the worst transition plans I’ve seen. Announcing the transition but keeping people waiting for the study for two more weeks; not being transparent on the release dates and the package.

Same thing happening with the North America Lab integration (NALI) for many of the Canadians and the wage folks in Clinton. The doors are closing for them YE27 too. Good luck to us all. WAEM ...right?

@2aq I know, how invested am I going to be in giving it my all to prepare the company to sell the downstream business, only to know I will be redundant at the end of it?

@2aq What’s more is they made the initial announcement two weeks ago and left us all hanging whilst they ‘completed the staff review’. Absolute shambles.

I can’t imagine how anyone could continue to work knowing they are going to be made redundant in YE26/27. And the people to be made redundant would be prime targets for the next rounds of PIP/ NSI.
What a sick joke is this company. Psychological torture

@2aj oh wow! is it only the upstream folks, or are people in PS and support functions impacted as well? thinking of the good people I worked with in PS and support; I remember the 2020 program was semi-voluntary and some didn't take it.

@25f The redundancies are staggered across YE25 / YE26 / YE27; buyouts roughly twice as lucrative as the 2020 program. Program will cost ~$50M.

Close to 1,400 years of experience will be separated from the organisation to make a slither of a difference in the next “Structural Cost Savings” chart and shift emissions off the “Operated” metric. What a waste.

Rumoured individual communications starting this week?

The criteria for people staying or made redundant will be very opaque; they will use lots of words to describe who’s the pet.

I heard all announcements will be completed next week.

When will communication (stay or go) to employees be done?

Anyone know how they decide who is made redundant and who stays on? Is it based on lowest cost or who is best qualified/experienced to do the job? Or is it more who is management's favourite, or age profile or some other factors?

High Five on the dev manager comment. EM are welcome to keep. It’s always strange when people resign from her team, it’s for personal reasons.

But look on the bright side - ExxonMobil kept the PNG Dev Manager so more of the golden children staying with EM will leave

@pb "what do the transferring employees think"

Happy to be back to exploring/ developing fields. And getting rid of BTC that slowed down/messed up almost everything they touched.

Canada has some of XOMs best assets in terms of reliability and ROCE. Strathcona refinery and Cold Lake. Doubt they do anything with IOL other than give them more capital in the future.

They said there were 76 expats currently. Don’t expect too many to remain

Who they are keeping and move they are moving to Woodside just demonstrates that behaviours don’t matter and that a toxic work environment is fine if you get results.
