Mechanical “emergency”

How can the UP management claim an emergency when everyone on the railroad saw the inevitable situation years ago? Don’t change oil, main bearing wear and take out crankshafts. They close shops and furlough massive amounts of the work force and now wonder why we can’t keep the railroad running. As for the forced overtime, I see people slowing down. They can force all they want but they can’t make you get anything done. Gotta stand up for yourself because your union won’t help, so work harder everyone and they won’t have to hire any more help and they can start forcing on your rest days too! Let’s throw in a new critical rule every week and see how that helps!

Managers are also the reason we have so much forced overtime. Half them dont even know what we do or how to delegate the work properly.

They have literally had to fatal accidents in the last 2 months but yet there hasn’t been any safety stand downs no town halls. They don’t care about us. Old Givens laid off in mechanical right before Vena showed up to su-k up to him but he doesn’t get punished for his sh---y decision. We do.
