Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

We will just switch to making more military products. Layoffs cancelled.

great ideas.
Boeing factories can make nuclear bombs, aircraft carriers, bombers, and missiles.
Spend a few hundred billion per year on useless hardware. Military spending has sunk many empires in the past, and this senseless "defense" spending will send the national debt into the stratosphere.
Maybe we should actually spend some money on public health and fighting COVID-19 as a medical issue, to solve the real problem ?
Whatever, I have 15 young relatives [ age 20-30 ] - they get to pay off the USA debt and work until they're 80 [ Social Security is broke ]

I dont think there is enough space in the defense sector to fit everyone. The P-8 is only one slow moving line. I mean it moves a tad faster than the west line in Renton. They could fit a few and it would be people that really knew their stuff. I dont know how the tanker flows but I would imagine no faster than the P-8. All other military projects are out of state. So sorry OP. Lay offs are not cancelled.
And all this one Boeing BS needs to stop. When the sh!+ hits the fan, if someone makes a mistake you people will just go running your mouths as if you dont make mistakes. You will join the social bandwagons and join the middle school playground culture like everybody else. You will step on the nice people, pass judgement on quiet people, call someone stupid because you think the person is brilliant. So k–l that one Boeing nonsense. You type of people that say that are legit psychopath cowards.

Culture will change. It’s a small group of greedy managers who crashed MAX. Boeing is engineers and builders in the first place, and excellence on top of those. One Boeing.

  • Dear Naïve @1xvx AKA Corporate Shill

To commenter below: Don't come with that corporate propaganda and try to make it seem like an honest mistake. It has been reported many times by whistle blowers that it was due to pressure to cut cost. Cheap culture. Caused by greedy executives and board members.

Mr. Happy...........the problem is Boeing has taken EVERYTHING for granted! I am shocked that Trump would back you guys up after the mass murders you committed. If Trump is backing Boeing, watch out! You production line guys will all be outsourced. The company will not make it through this.

Thanks Mr Happy I totally agree with your post!

All these haters are in for a long infinite wait for something fatal happening to Boeing. We will get through this and come out even better than before. If layoffs happen it will be temporary and will be followed by callbacks and hiring sprees.

One Boeing!!!

Please do not listen to all those posters who get their 'news' from the uninformed media, rumors, or conspiracy nuts.

In truth Boeing will not go into chapter 11, be broken apart, or otherwise demise.

Wait for the earnings call and what will obviously be very bad results... then remember this... we are talking daily with the Feds to hammer out a plan that is in the BEST interest of the company AND our employees.

Yes the employment numbers will fall... yes the production lines (BCA) will slow down... yes BGS folks will continue their week per month furloughs into the fall.

But Boeing will be here as a going concern in 2020, 2021, 2022, 20xx.

Yes I know the trolls will all respond with fun and witty comments, but the company is solid... even with everything we have been through.

Stay safe! See you all back on site!

First of all, boeings defense segment is not doing well. Read up on the KC-46 and all of its issues
As for BCA that would be the most complicated issue when it comes to splitting up the company. Obviously Airbus couldn't buy it that would get blocked. Either wipe out the CEO and board and allow boeing to manage only the commercial division with government equity or allow another company to buy out the commercial section. The company would most likely have to be American and it would help if it were related to aviation. Beyond that, anyone's guess as to which company is as good as mine. But someone needs to intervene cause this situation is way beyond salvageable. the MAX is not a safe aircraft and the current management keeps doubling down on it instead of designing a new aircraft. This is going to cause nothing but problems in the future

@1mr FYI, Boeing is doing terrible. The worst it's done in over two decades. Boeing was doing better during the 9/11 crisis and still laid off nearly 30,000 employees then. Think about it.

@iry+14xREEwE But that’s the most important question. Who has the potential and willingness to buy BCA?
Boeing can easily keep all the defence and military stuff cuz it’s not doing that bad.
Maybe they can just split defence and commercial, something what Bombardier did with their train and business jet divisions??? Idk just a speculation...

No way this is possible. They do not have the demand to make this happen. The military and air force are very unpleased with Boeing, so I doubt the business will increase much or get any better. Layoffs will happen for sure. Don't be stuck in denial.

Boeing is spread too thin its constant failures are dangerous and expensive. Its departments need to be dismantled and sold off
Here are examples of successful companies that could buy Boeing segments
Lockheed Martin could buy out boeings defense department. Lockheed is very successful and efficient itd be good for boeing to learn from them
Space X could buy out the starliner program
Another company should take over boeings commercial segment. That's where boeing is the most dangerous and needs help to restructure their processes

@ Not a Boeing fan

Who would buy out Boeing though? Textron? GE?

Seems like having 27,000 people return to work is just visual move to satisfy the media, shareholders and politicians. People inside and outside of Boeing are scratching their heads as to why. All the rumors flying around about layoffs looks more and more likely.
Stock price appears to be propped up as news of aircraft cancellations increase.

Working military programs for all won't happen because some require security clearances, and from a lot of people I've seen there, that isn't going to happen either.

Executive management clowns are going to be affected by it because they'll be on their hillside mansions looking down from Seattle and Sh—cago.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Boeing eventually bought out by and large corporation, it might be the only way to salvage what Boeing has done to itself.

It doesn't matter which program you go back to work on. The virus is still the same at its full potential. Just like in war times, the herd is the one sent to the front lines to die. Are the execs still hidding in their mansions or they are also going back to "work" in their new positive pressure meeting rooms?
