Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

November layoffs

Has there been any more news on the previously mentioned November layoffs? So far all I've heard is that the likely date is 11/14.

I was laid off yesterday, 11/7. I got f'd pretty bad by our Director and Sr. Director. I work in IT and was the only one on my team of nine let go despite being the senior guy that trains other employees and takes lead on the projects and troubleshooting. The Director scheduled an impromptu meeting and told me. My manager had no idea, but he just got f'd a week or two ago by them as well. They're moving someone into his position, asking him to help with the transition, but not telling him what he is going to be doing once the transition is over. How is sus is that? My Director is a clueless jerk who throws people under the bus which makes the people actually running the group, underneath him, someone he can blame to those above him. In the recent Cigna anonymous survey, a several people in our group told me they wrote it is toxic working for him. It's been like that for the last year and I had already gotten a headhunter but I wanted to leave with a better job lined up first. I feel like I was considering dumping a toxic girlfriend but then she pulled a surprise and dumped me first.

"So, if you’re notified on 11/7- your manager had to have submitted the paperwork by 9/12/24 and finalized it by 10/3. They know 2 months before you do, they give themselves 60 days notice to prepare to eliminate you."

HAHA!! That's pretty hilarious. A few weeks ago I worked an impromptu 13 hours on a Sunday when an outage happened. I joined the effort despite being scheduled for PTO the next day. The Director asked my manager why I was on the call if I were on PTO. He told him that I have great troubleshooting skills and am a good employee who cares.

To reply to "Anyone experiencing friction on teams lately with people throwing others under the bus" Oh yes!!! Clinops is notorious for this!! Be very careful with PHO Sr Managers...nothing but backstabbers.

I know the managers know because they actually have to recommend you. It may have been because they were a director but I know she knew for a fact.

yes it would be nice if upper management was as transparent as possible in dealing with their employees.

unfortunately, the strategic decision appears to be counter to that.

Who is it that knows 60d out? Direct managers or higher up? I’m still thinking my band 4 direct manager is actually telling the truth they don’t know of anything coming, but that doesn’t mean I feel my name isn’t on that list.

I would be overjoyed with a layoff and severance package. This place has gone downhill.

disgusting for them to do rolling layoffs for over a year.. just do it all at once and maybe morale wouldnt suffer.. People arent going to be happy or giving their all when any month they can get the axe.

There’s a job elimination guide in manager services on Iris with the upcoming “notification dates”, 11/7/24, 12/5/24, 1/16/25, 2/13/25, and 3/13/25; the actual termination dates are 30 days after notification date. Paperwork must be submitted by manager 2 months before the notification date, and all paperwork must be finalized a month prior. So, if you’re notified on 11/7- your manager had to have submitted the paperwork by 9/12/24 and finalized it by 10/3. They know 2 months before you do, they give themselves 60 days notice to prepare to eliminate you.

I am also curious about the last layoff claim stating that Medicare would be affected, but so far I haven't heard of any Medicare layoffs that happened in Oct.

I'm curious to see the areas impacted.
I've had team members leaving in droves for external opportunities the past couple months. Team morale is completely gone, we're all burnt out.
