We are literally bleeding people we need. Apparent criteria for layoffs has been the cost and age - well, skills, experience and knowledge comes at price. Those who have shot in the wild have also been leaving on their own. The mismanagement created a perfect storm of negative selection. Intel will never turn around if only for that reason.

@2ooh No. The FICA tax will be raised by one percent to cover the shortfall.
If they are really competent that would have realized by now they can’t leave. No one will hire them. All of us have been branded as unhireable. And why would anyone want to hire any of us? We destroyed a primer American brand name.
Age IS a criteria for laying people off. During the last 2 years, if you meet any of those rules, you're gone. If it isn't this CPM, it'll be the next one or the next one. Being laid off has little to do with good performance or willingness to bring something new into the role. That's all BS. Good workers are getting laid off. And yes that includes people of color, women, and white males . . . age IS a factor.
@ipx... age discrimination exists in both hiring and firing in the entire job market but good luck proving it. People are living longer and the full retirement age will soon get pushed to 70 to help shore up social security. Businesses need to change their mindset but it will need to be forced on them.
So what?
Need to vent on this topic....WE all know those employees who have that reputation no matter race, age, position etc. Why are there still low performing lazy break abusing should be laid off employees still working?????? This was the perfect opportunity to get rid of some/most/all of them!?! So many lazy non contributing people still here in ATD. unbelievable, just
goes to show the company is not serious about being the best and having great talent with work ethic. Huge missed opportunity
@qkf... same results? In what market does Intel have the best product? Revenue is dropping and is currently 35% below the peak. The company is failing in every aspect. Experience matters, pay for it.
Some old timers are the worst and just follow processes with no sense of innovation
Intc. = A bureaucracy !
Intel using the cheapest possible labor has alway been a thing, hence the huge focus on RCGs over the history of Intel. Has not gone to well for breaking into new markets. Lets hire a 1000 RCG and design a market leading cell phone, ....
@qkf achieving the same result of not achieving anything?
Good people already left YEARS ago for better pay, culture, management, career mobility etc.
The people STILL at Intel are mediocre at best.
The group I’m in was gutted by ERP. Then my boss volunteered for ISP. I’m an orphan now, but the work remains. Nothing has been canceled since the project is managed by a different team. I’m guessing I’ll be transferred to another group soon after someone takes notice. It’s a train wreck.
Intel has figured out that they can achieve the same results with a few highly paid executives commanding a large army of (cheap) low-experience worker force. No need to pay top dollar for large numbers of highly skilled employees.
We all left in the 90s for greener pastures. Just here for entertainment.
age is not a legal criteria for layoff
