Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

It’s a shame to say I am working for Intel…disgraceful!

Venting out here…I regret my decision to join Intel and it’s a shame to be associated with this company. Never gained from stocks and in the past few years the salary remained the same…now I think the biggest loss for all of us that our resumes look so bad with this name…shame on the executives who not only ruined the company but the future of their employees….its a damage that is unrecoverable…

@gem

Well then you have a leg up on it. An advantage you should absolutely leverage. You should use this prior history with them to join. But unfortunately for the lot of us we don’t have similar circumstances or connections like that. Your situation is very unique to your individual path. You are lucky. Use it!

Of course all of them are ex-Intel and most of them were my direct teammates or managers. They would be happy for me to join them.

Do you have friends in other companies in the industry? Go chat with them. Sure that will go just fine. They may take a few friendly jabs. But then steer the conversation to see their thoughts on you joining them at their company. Sure they aren’t doing the hiring etc but get a feel of how quickly the tone of the conversation changes.

@ioz+1tW5po72 those who are laughing at you, are they in the same room with us now?

The industry is looking down at us and laughing at us. You could be a great engineer that had nothing to do with our current situation, but to them it doesn’t matter. We are all painted with the same brush. If you think differently about this then you are very naïve. It’s hard to point to the piece you worked on and say it’s great while the macroscopic build is a piece of cr-p.

But the silver lining here is there are other industries that aren’t so knowledgeable about going ons of the semiconductor world. In those worlds Intel is a recognized brand name and therefore seen in a much better light.

What's wrong with working for Intel? I'd be more ashamed working for Facebook or TikTok who actively ruin society.

Why shame? Is it because of its current troubles? I worked for many companies and am always proud of what I did at each company.

First job: mail sorting
Second job: nursing home kitchen helper
Third job: University affirmative action investigation assistance
Fourth job: semi conductor fabrication machine cleaner
Fifth job: Both as Intel technician and engineer roles (hint: deal with good, bad & stupid managers. Who cares as long as they have the money to pay. No money goodbye and find money somewhere else )
Six job: amateur stock trader
Seven job: self employment
Eight job: Internet writer
Future ninth job: to be Senator at 55
Future tenth job: to be President at 60

If a interviewer is judging you on who you work for vs. the work you did, they are probably not a place you would want to work at.

The interviewer always thinks you were laid off even though you may have quit on your own. But if they need you it doesn't really matter. Just be happy that you still have time to build a career in a reputable company IF still young and use some of the experience from this stupid company that's run by bunch of id--ts. Don't take it too personal and don't let it consume you. You be happy again soon after you land a good job. You just have to go through this process because of mo--ns at Intel
