intel is effectively bankrupt. without governement intervention it would've already had to file for it. there is no choice. intel can just split it up and move on or it'll be done under a bankruptcy judge. not sure what planet most intel employees have been living under to think this is 'news'. its been the only path for several years, pat just decided to pi-s away 10's of billions of shareholder money before doing the obvious which was always how it was gonna end. idm is an outdated business model. its be out competed.

In short, they will part it out and sell everything possible bit by bit.

Essentially it is the collapse of the empire…foundry cannot stand alone, product business cannot stand alone - M&A will save the day and Intel will just disappear

Has everone been living under a rock ? The company absolutely positively needs to, and will split.

Issue is - what will either be worth , and if the same chimps are running the tea party - it won’t work.

People need to stop getting hung up on process nodes - you can still create an aweful lot of good products in older nodes … they just need to make better decisions ! Fu--ing id--ts

This has been playing out in secret for well over three quarters now. There were already two different consortia in negotiations with Pat to take major stakes in IFS and potentially take it private with Intel Product obtaining a wafer supply agreement. Those negotiations have now fallen through. Which is what is prompting the new action.

Intel Foundry was a tough sell 15 years ago when Intel has a significant process lead over all of the competition. Today, with a process lag, thanks to BK, a tough sell has become a near impossible sell.
