Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

A conversation with VH. May 27. Your chance to ask questions!

I am wondering what kind of questions will be pre-screened for discussion:
Please tell us more about how great Pink Petro is.
What kind of kayak do you prefer?
Please don’t ask:
How the heck are we getting out if this mess?
Who validated Anadarko’s reserves for purchase?
Are you going to send people to Ghana?

None of the questions that people really want answered will be answered. They’ll pre-screen and only answer the easy ones. Wish there was a way to send in questions anonymously, as most employees have a fear of retaliation. Like...how do you plan on getting all the work done at half staff? If someone puts in a voluntary offer and gets denied due to workload, then mistakes start happening because your employees are stretched too thin, does that employee then get fired?! Ridiculous!

DRW is David Ramsden-Wood, host since November 2018 of the podcast #hottakeoftheday

Among other laudatory things about Hollub, he has called her his “personal industry hero and super stud.”

Apparently DRW is (by himself?):
Known for challenging conventional thinking with a data driven — “I don’t know what you want me to think, that’s what the data says” — approach.

Apparently DRW HAS 20 years experience as an engineer in the O&G industry, some of it with APC.

I wonder what OXY employees think?

My opinion: he’s found a niche as a BS artist

Oh, got it. So DRW is just another talking head with his little consulting firm who probably takes fees from Oxy to do some “work” with the side PR benefit of talking up VH at every opportunity. Similar to TP at Petrie Parkman in the old days, but TP was less blatant.

Ghana is non-op and APC had no in-country office.

DRW used to work for APC years ago and is obsessed with VH. He gets frequently destroyed on LinkedIn and Twitter. He thinks he's cool using profanity and acting like he's not in the industry and he's God's gift to the industry. He has been let go of from multiple companies.

DRW s*cks so hard. The guy is a hypocrite who says one set of rules for everyone in oil and gas but a whole new set of rules for his idol VH.

I thought L-APC folks salary was protected by COC for the first year? How could they reduce it all? I agree with @igb+153oIJ4U fully, except on the DRW thing. please explain..

Who is DRW?

The only reason they didn’t reduce APC salaries the full 30% is they knew every one of us would leave, and they would have no recourse to stop us. OF COURSE our salaries will be dropped as soon as the first year of protection is up. I wouldn’t be surprised if L-OXY saw an uplift at the same time. I wouldn’t disagree with it either. Y’all got the extremely short end of the stick with that reduction in April. I can’t imagine that they didn’t have enough in the coffers to withstand keeping everyone’s salaries as is until they could drop everyone at the same time, or at least give more than 2 weeks notice that you would have to completely overhaul your budgets. I’m sincerely sorry that happened to y’all. The only question I have is whether or not DRW has a job lined up for her once she resigns?

What does everyone have against Hawaiian shirts? There were a group of employees that would wear Hawaiian shirts on Friday's, but for the record, I thought they looked stupid too.

They either need to reduce LAPC or raise ours back. If they put the salary reductions on the back of LOXY that will not fly, but then maybe they want LOXY out, so LAPC can keep them running so well. You never know with this group of leaders.

What is the likelihood that LAPC salaries will be reduced by an additional 25% in August?

My question: Hey Vicki - do we have any big plans to celebrate the company's 100-year anniversary? Its been quite a banner year thanks to your arrogance and ignorance. I think it calls for something special. I'm sure the employees could come up with some ideas.

What a farce!!! Do you think she is going to answer any hard questions? This is not for us at all. This is just an opportunity for her to make herself look good. Drink the koolaid.
