Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Is it worth sticking around for possible severance?

I can leave today if I want to, but knowing layoffs are coming (in this economy, it's just a matter of time) I'm thinking maybe I should stick around for a bit longer and let them pay me to leave. What's severance like these days? Have any changes been made recently? Is it worth sticking around if I've been here for 8 years?

@hxd Can you explain how the economy is booming with record high inflation? Do you know what a recession is?

You aren’t going to get severance, especially with 8 years service. I don’t see layoffs anytime soon. The economy is actually booming and that’s one reason for the high prices with inflation. The jobs market is great with less than 4 percent unemployment. Things will settle down when the supply chain issues finally iron out, but for now every company is scrambling for workers and sales for most everything is through the roof.
