Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Asking to be laid off

Is it possible to just ask to be laid off? We all know it's coming, is there a way we can just be added to the top of the list? My manager says there isn't a list, I dont believe him
I'd rather enjoy my summer than worry about if I'm next every other week.

@OP go find a job since you have such unlimited abilities and promote such resources.

@hw But yet you don't know the person posting. They could be a better performer than you are and you're lucky your department wasn't hit with the worst "leadership" ever.

Maybe soon the leopards will eat your face and you'll be the OP "whining".

Would love to be laid off as well, keep the RSU's and collect severance and then move on to bigger and better things. Makes no sense to flat out quit.

@ex yep, me again. Some vent about low pay and miserable conditions like no coffee in the break room and RTO; I vent about responsibility and self-reliance and personal development. And no, the irony doesn’t evade me. It entertains me.

@db You again. You are aren't very bright. You come to a vent forum to Whine about other people "Whining". The irony evades you.

@aa assuming you’re joking, but you’re “hearing” that Truist “can’t afford severance”? Who talks about whether a company can “afford” severance? I mean seriously, how and when does THAT come up in a conversation? Another word for severance is “salary”, since it’s just a continuation of pay until some future date. I think Truist can pay its people just fine.

SMH. When this whining end? If there are more than one of you doing your job, then you need the money more than Truist needs your services. Fact. You wanna leave? LEAVE! I have been fully employed everyday for the last 45 years and have NEVER volunteered to be unemployed much less be paid to leave. “Hey, when it comes time to decide who’s needed and who’s dead weight, put me on the second list please”. Yeah, see ya. Be a grown up and free up your chair to someone who needs the job.

@OP I hope I’m never so mentally defeated that I start wishing for a layoff instead of taking responsibility for finding a better opportunity myself. If I ever got there, I’d hope I’d recognize it as a sign to get help and work through whatever put me in that mindset.

@OP I don't blame you. It's better to get the severance. But I'm hearing Truist can't afford severance anymore, so they are relying on making teammates miserable enough to quit. Just use this time to interview with another jobs. Good luck to you.
