Thread regarding Disney layoffs

Disney running on credit, as people here have been saying

Lansberry said Disney has “about $11.5 billion of cash on our balance sheet. We’ve got $10.5 billion worth of revolving credit facilities and commercial paper. And we will have plenty of future cash flow to help fund all of this going forward.”

Of the 11.4B of COH, $10.5B is on ESG credit lines.

Iger and Lansberry are on the hook for a $15B Hulu buyout with $11.4B COH and losses that haven't even hit the books yet. Where's that "plenty of future cash flow" going to come from if not from DtC, BO, linear, or parks?

Cuts.

Selling off assets like corporate bonds and treasuries, i.e. the debt market, would be a consequence of maintaining creditworthiness required to float expenses from month to month to meet payroll and cover expenses until royalty and vendor payments come in (which is true for most large corporations).

The issue Disney is facing is that by maintaining an ESG score needed to have access to those lines of credit, they've alienated customers which has resulted in a negative $2B return on the last 10 box office releases and hurt the brand's image overall.

So Iger, Lansberry, and the board are going to have to thread the needle by meeting ESG criteria while also generating enough revenue to meet financial obligations. Hence, the cashflow problems.

The ESG scam has turned out to be a problem not just for Disney, but for everyone.

There is no such thing in the debt markets as ESG credit

Where did you just make up the $15B Hulu buyout? I have only see values of between 9 and 10.5.

There is no such thing in the debt markets as ESG credit. We do have real issues on product and cash flow. But made up cr-p is just fear mongering that makes you look like a trader or activist and not an employee who is trying to understand our company and our own futures.

@hvd+1o2lxiKQ That’s what we in the biz refer to as a doom loop

Step 1: Borrow money that meets ESG criteria to cover costs
Step 2: Lose customers, generate less revenue
Step 3: Repeat
