Team Leads are normally not officially titled but have higher tenure in any given group. They may mentor others and generally can be the go to person for a boss when they need a top subject matter expert to tackle a big problem. Why would someone accept this responsibility without it being an official paid position. Well look at how often layoffs occur at Verizon and generally speaking a lead is someone a boss depends on and if they truly deserve the position may be safer from such layoffs. To me the op probably feels the leads they work with are undeserving of the role and in some organizations that may be true but the post itself is nonsense.
@hv ok so if people call you a team lead, you are getting laid off? what in the he-l are you id--ts posting on here.
The OP is a jackhole and so are you. LOL "My directs call me a team lead." your directs probably hate you. i call my boss - my boss. Like every other normal person in the whole entire freaking world.
This thread is a total joke.
@hy yeah, who doesn’t know team lead at this point? Provably why they riffing yall!!
@hv I smell BS
You guys are such clowns. Team Lead is a generic term that A LOT of corporations use, including Verizon. It’s literally generic, never official. My directs call me a team lead.
@cg I've been with Vz for over 13 years and the title "team lead" is not a term we use in retail. I believe you referring to a Senior Manager or possibly even a Director.
Just tell us if VCG reps will be impacted.
@h7 ok, so Team Lead is referring to an Associate Director? or the former title of Senior Manager? I have worked for Corporate in a Regional, Area and Territoy function as we have centralized and decentralized over and over and over again. I have never, ever heard the term Team Lead until you mentioned it on this board. I have held at least 12 roles within the company across many organizations and have STILL never heard that term or title. Sorry that is making you angry. Good luck in the RIF :)
@h4 you are clearly living in bubble or not even corporate anything. Team Leads describe any frontline manager, union or not.
A team lead is the person responsible for coordinating the work of a small team, providing guidance and support, and serving as the bridge between individual contributors and higher management
In case you pretend to not know what frontline manager means.
A frontline manager is the first level of formal management within an organization, directly responsible for leading and supporting individual contributors who perform the company’s day-to-day work. They oversee team performance, provide coaching and feedback, manage schedules and workloads, address operational issues, and help translate broader organizational goals into actionable tasks for their employees. As the primary link between staff and senior leadership, frontline managers play a critical role in driving execution, maintaining employee engagement, and ensuring consistent service and operational results.
@dy I CLEARLY have worked for the company fro over 15 years. I have no idea what a Foreman is.. I have lead large teams and have never had a Team Lead. I also am not union so if that is what you are then that would explain it. Thanks for your input though. :)
@dw you think we’re only talking about customer service? You clearly are at the bottom of the sh-t list. A supervisor is a TL, a foreman is a TL, and anyone who supports ANY frontline person is a TL. You clearly have no clue and probably don’t work for the company.
Op is right. RIF for frontline managers coming soon.
@cm It's not true, Customer Service doesn't have team leads. There is no title like that.
is this for retail or corporate teams?
@ah not an official title. We have “team leads” that share our same engineer title and receive no additional pay. They used to pay 10% so we had 2 grandfathered team leads collecting the money, and 2 recent team leads getting nothing, lolz
@cg I have worked here for over 15 years, it sounds like you work in customer service...
@ah McDonald’s
@ah you clearly don’t work for Verizon if you never heard team lead before.
No
What is a “team lead”? What organization has a position called a team lead?
Fake news
