Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Managers exhibiting odd behavior . . . ?

Like everyone, I have a chance of losing my job but am really not that concerned (odds of dismissal are low, I think).

Regardless, my manager is involved in the layoffs/reorg exercise and has been acting very distant, disorganized, and very hard to get ahold of. Has anyone else experienced this kind of change of behavior from their manager recently?

regarding your question about whether I have thought that this manager is acting weird because she is worried about being let go: I cannot elaborate, but this manager was newly appointed, and has almost no chance of being let go, at least in the next few months. Another words, the reason she is behaving. Weirdly is definitely not because she’s worried about losing her job in the near term. I think part of the reason she is acting this way, is because she is involved in the reorg (thru her manager) and very distracted.

does anyone have any insight on the span of control managers are talking about......and what will happen to c15 / c14 / c13 with less than 8 directs.

My manager for some reason left me off an email and then I’m not sure if she’s going to exclude me from this meeting coming up. Or it could be an oversight. There’s like no direction anywhere and everything is inconsistent. I’ve not see anything so disorganized in a while.

Have you thought that your manager may be as worried as the rest about being laid off? That surely takes a toll mentally.

Same here. Our team has been moved twice to new managers over the past 2 months since our manager was laid off in December. We have had little interaction with new manager/leadership, probably given that more changes are coming down soon, likely impacting our level (our team is half c-13/c-14). Not sure if/when communication starts to improve, but I'm feeling extra disenfranchised to say the least.

I have, yes. My manager is keeping things VERY close to the vest. A few more weeks, everything will be announced, then back to normal (hopeful anyway)

Yes. I experience this everyday. I've given up on communicating with my manger and other higher ups. Not worth the worry or headache because no response or an unhelpful response will be all one is receiving right now.
