Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Externalizing the root cause

So many in our society externalize blame on their own issues. The want to eat pizza and ice cream, drink soda and blame their obesity on situations, the food industry, big pharma, etc. The same is true with careers and job loss.

If you are deeply worried about losing your job at GM, do something about it.
There's obviously something going on that is making you so concerned. Is it YOU? Are you doing the hours, acting the team player, doing your best?
It's time to be honest.
Shaking your fist at the world will not fix your problems.

I'm guessing OP has a lot of people "externalizing" them as the root cause.

Putin and Orban had their own DOGE removing officials and putting in their hand picked flunkies when they first took power.

Apparently DEI is everywhere.

Are Mary and the SLT "doing the hours, acting the team player, doing their best?
It's time to be honest."

I take my cues from those at the top.

Looking at the responses here and elsewhere, my conclusion is that the vast majority of you literally "externalize the root cause" and will deserve what is coming to you.

Enjoy the doom and spectacle. When you are on the outside looking in, know that everyone will be too preoccupied with their own situation to give a S about you. That's going to sting, and you will find out that opportunities you assumed existed, will not.

I'm done.

It must be nice living in a world where everything works perfect and idealistic for you. I use to think like you when I was young, immature and hadn’t lived much of life to see the realities of how things can happen to people. The fact is there are things beyond people control and life isn’t fair sometimes. Should people take initiative and put their best effort for add? Absolutely. But to assume an individual is solely at fault for all outcomes is ridiculous. There are so many things in life we’ll experience beyond our control that sometimes we can recover or get past and some we can’t. The fact is GM is sc--wing a number of people here that don’t deserve it.

My guess is this will come back to bite GM. When? Who knows but it will sooner or later.

"My point is made.
No one accepts responsibility for their own life."

Try looking in the mirror first.
Who was punished for the housing fiasco?
What's next, are you planning on blaming babies
for the national debt?

My point is made.
No one accepts responsibility for their own life.
It's the bad company or the bad manager.
And of course, you are helpless.
GM owes you a living and there's never enough money, security or comfort for you.
Golf clap
The fun is just getting started people.
You can either cry like a B, or DO SOMETHING.
Your destiny is fully in your own hands
Everything else is b1tching.

HR must have posted this lol

Truth is when a bunch of false things are put in your review and your manager acknowledges that but won’t correct the errors it makes you lose a bit of faith in the system.

It's cute how you think working hard will save your job.

The SLT is acting in an unstable and arbitrary way.

People who do everything right get branded low performing and laid off, especially if they're older.
