Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

What a real company offers its employees

Got an offer today after several months off. Couldn't believe what I was seeing. The company offers profit sharing and an employee stock options plan. Sounds like a company that cares about its employees. Not sure why Dell couldn't...or better yet, wouldn't do this for its employees. There are better alternatives out there.

@hp
Your failure wasn't at the new companies.
It is returning back to Dell instead of moving forward.
To say you can't do better than Dell is more a reflection/limitation on you.

@hp you tool, I was laid off from this company that you seem to love so much. I would have stayed given the choice, but I wasn't. I did ask the right questions and talked to people that actually work there. Yes, the opportunity is better than what I HAD...not HAVE.

Um, so?!? I have been at Dell left Dell and came back because the grass is not always greener on the other side… Guess what those two companies I went to work for had what your bragging about and it means absolutely nothing… companies lie to hire you and change their narrative after your onboarded.. Hope you asked a bunch of questions and didn’t miss the initial red flags.. best of luck to you and guarantee you will be giving up something to gain what you didn’t have at Dell (i.e. more expensive benefits, lack of tools, company issued equipment , training, or work ethic)

@c6
Raises never guaranteed, and I've known people yearly to NOT get a raise. Even if you get one, will be small due to "team's budget."
Bonuses? Not everyone gets 100%.
VPs need their 15k yearly raises, you know.

Yup! I had an offer from AMD a month ago for essentially my exact job I'm doing at dell; but it was 30k more and 3 days in office/2 at home. The office is also 5 mins from home. Same benefits and PTO time as well.

I ended up declining because I honestly really do love my job, who I work with and for, and love being in the federal space as it's quite secure in regards to layoffs. I also love that it's a small group and I know everybody on a personal level.

I probably should have taken that job but, I'm honestly happy where I am right now.

At Dell we get pay raises yearly, a big bonus, inspire awards, and RSUs. What's not to love about Dell?
