The only reason why I'm still at Optum is that I kept hoping they'd send me off with a severance package. But after so many layoffs in the last 12 months and me still being here, it's not worth it. This place is toxic and I can no longer justify staying here. A safety net would have been nice, but I'm going to quit anyhow.

Agree 100% with @qoq+1tj51ycz..... The many people that were laid off in my dept on May 2 still have not been able to find anything. The job market su-ks.. Even applying for jobs that you are over qualified for doesn't work.
@hob+1tj51ycz how ironic given that an Englishman is running the place...into the ground
My Tenure was as such,...Came on when Optum was Ingenix. Great job then. Once they re branded, Things started going sour. All big companies have their ebbs and flows. After rebranding, things started to go down hill. ...and kept going down. Was there 17 years. Finally asked my manager to add me to the next layoff list (needed my severance)...Anticipating being layed off is mind bending...Being layed off is a release...
If you're unhappy, get out. this applies to any job you ever have.
Just be warned, the job market out here is beyond awful. Many of us that were RIFd back on May 2 are still desperately looking for work with little to no leads despite massive effort. If it were me I’d find a job first and then leave. Unless you have 8-12 months worth of salary saved up that you can use in the event this job market does not improve.
: @kvk+1tj51ycz- HR is never a friend of the employee. They always back the company, no matter what. That is why we have lawyers to hire. if needed to help the employee against employed trouble maker/team members/ bosses.
Love ❤️ HR, maybe you'll be next. Lord knows when we're retaliated against or when management acts outside of company aligned values, HR doesn't really do much about it.
Do yourself a favor and use all of your pto and disability leave before you bounce out. Gotta use all of your company benefits back against the company where it hurts them in the wallets before you leave.
July 18th is a pay day… layoffs seem to happen on non pay days.
Please quit now!
A great Englishman once said, "A fool and his money are soon parted."
just wait till after the 18th, maybe you’ll get lucky
