Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Recession cancelled

or soft landing is expected. Now with interest rate cuts more are looking for the job market to improve in 2025.

All the while Dell will be cost cutting into this and losing employees from attrition. I suspect dell will try to start rehiring mid next year to catch up.

Storage gets no love from Michael

I do agree that it seems like Michael is positioning the company for an acquisition. I totally do not believe that that would be Nvidia at all. Not sure who it could be that would make sense. Would have to be a giant. Maybe a Microsoft or Amazon. Just spitballing.

repeatedly reported It has been in a rolling recession since late 2022: stimulus money circulating kept the consumer going; the Fed backstopped the banks in March '23; many homeowners can tap their new found equity from rising home prices to keep spending

I think NVIDIA is going to buy Dell. It's the only thing that makes sense as far as the crazy moves Dell is making. Lean up, make the books look good.

We've been in recession since 2023.
So yes a soft landing is being sold to us now as we make our way out of it.

Agreed. I don't think there is a future for Dell. It's all pump and dump and self-promotion at the moment. This whole AI thing is just another empty jingo for them.
They will have to start hiring once attrition hits hard. I suspect this is when a lot of laid off dell old-timers will start boomeranging back.

Don't worry, if Harris wins the economy will tank once they run out of other people's money

If their business continue to shed margins, they won’t. In fact they will continue to try and cut their way to profitability. Dell is not good at innovation…..they are good at supply chains, etc. over time their acquired technologies will atrophy and they will bring in less and less margin to viably compete against superior offerings. And if NVDA acquires SMCI, its lights out for Dell
