What happened to the US VXrail team? i don't see them around anymore

I was trying to look up some colleagues who worked on VxRail, but it seems they’re no longer at Dell. What happened to the U.S. team?

@hm They should sell off EMC/products AND PEOPLE. Dell has gone downhill ever since...

I am a former VCE employee that was first assimilated by EMC and then Dell.

It was rather obvious from the beginning that converged infrastructure was not a focus and of course, having Cisco rather than Dell servers made them easy to ignore and therefore drop a market opportunity.

Like Dell buying EMC, it was about taking market share in the commercial space as opposed to mostly retail customers.

I’ve been gone 3.5 years from Dell and was just on this site, curious about its current state. Glad to have walked away and taken retirement a year early. I miss the team at times but not the job. It wasn’t what it used to be. Covid and Dell mgmt took care of that.

Some of us are still around, but you're right, the herd has thinned, mainly due to customers rejecting Broadcom's extortionary licensing costs. As a result, VxRail sales have fallen and even management is focusing on Dell Private Cloud with VMware, Azure, Nutanix and OpenShift solutions to compensate for the downfall of VxRail. They actually stated this out loud during last week's analyst call when one of them asked about the future of VxRail.

At least Michael and Silver Lake got their billions for VMware while customers got the shaft...

@gb

Selling VMware was a terrible move, it sent a clear message to customers that we don’t stand behind our own products. Many were furious about it; one even called MD “a pr--k.” Under Broadcom’s direction, VMware is doomed , it’ll be gone within five years. Their vSphere 9.0 plan for a single “one-size-fits-all” license says everything.

Seeking VMware to Broadcom may have ki-led the product.

The cash cow of the past is no longer the cash cow.

It seems like they moved the support to Costa Rica.

There's still quite a few around from what I have been told the US army bought a lot of vxrails (one for every vehicle on the battlefield) and require US citizens on US soil for support.
