Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

UAW Ford Canada, Teamsters and now the Writers Guild.

SAG AFTRA will be the next. All have gotten favorable contracts. Stankey, are you paying attention? I know you are the smartest guy in any room.
Someone told me once that if you are the smartest person in the room, you are in the wrong room.

You need your first line manager to harass you about everything including, dispatching, calling your customer, getting your supplies and getting off the yard in 15 minutes or the GPS police will get you. They are also there to make sure upper management makes their bonus based on your labor so don’t take an inefficient due to sales lying to the customer about speeds, service or having fiber. They also need to tell you how to complete the job by laying drops all over the ground in an unsafe manner instead of actually repairing the issue.

AT&T doesn’t exactly need you anymore. Did you not get the memo ?

I am craft, so no, I did not get the memo that "management" got. There is much more to come for management, and the following memos will not be very polite.

“Repair and instillation of a complex telephone network takes years to learn and cannot be automated. We don’t have non union people that know how to do it.”

H€ll, we have union people that don’t know how to do it!

Oddly enough it has been happening for years. Repair and installation of services don't need a first line, he-l my first line can take two weeks off and we won't notice.
Now, what have you to say?

T apparently doesn’t mind leaving SLCs, T1s, & DS0s down for days on end. Lord knows they couldn’t care less about pots. They’ll round up enough spider monkeys to keep uverse going for a few weeks and then it will be back to normal or they’ll just lock us out for good. If you work for T you are ALWAYS replaceable.

We never got the Return To Work, I mean Return To Office memo.
Funny thing is we never stopped coming into work, pandemic and all.
Now, who is needed??

Need to get rid of unnecessary workers sooner rather than later. Give the workers that actually work a deserved pay raise.

We are going backwards with healthcare and inflation. I can remember when union members could afford brand new cars.

D3 - SE 2019 contract negotiation strike had nearly 100% participation, we are ready for a real wage, pension/cash balance increase and some time on the picket line if needed. UPS employees get $23,000 a year added to their pension and bargained for a fair wage increase.

Management are ostriches with their head in the sand if they think otherwise, we don’t care about their failed acquisitions. Obviously it hasn’t affected C-suite wages or bonuses.

CWA has no bargaining power. Little to no impact to AT&T if a strike is declared. CWA has such low participation rate which impacts strike pay budget.
