Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Whatever happened to Santorini?

It was supposed to be the big Cohesity ki-ler. Instead, they let DD rot on the vine

When I was selling at Dell, I never bothered to pitch Data Domain or "Cyber Recovery". It's utter cr-p. In fact I ran into more people that wanted to get rid of it

The dedupe is nice. But you can't put lipstick on a pig. ABS (Druva) is somewhat decent though (hard to pitch this against Veeam though)

And as inside reps, we were all taught the Why Dell for Data Protection... lol

PPDM is ISG's northstar from what we're told. Everything revolves around that application. 600 developers on the application will agree.

Surprised to hear this about DD as well, it’s always been doing very well. However PPDM was a failure shortly after it was released. Surprised anyone knows about this product.

And how is IDPA doing thrse days?

Powerprotect Data Domain and PowerProtect Data Manager are doing just fine. If you lot really worked for Dell you would know that. Fake news, id--ts posting nonsense. DPS is alive and well.

It was ruined as soon as India management took it over from the US team and then concentrated on agile and scrum as opposed to adding new and greater features to the product. The current Indian leadership teams blames the old Indian leadership team for letting the product slip. They missed the boat and are paying for it dearly now. I'd say in less than a year, it will be gone. Three releases in a row that needed a patch the day after it was released. No new customers, only aggravated existing customers looking for alternatives.

@hk AGREE. Cyber Recovery is such a joke. This will be sunset soon. We can't innovate and keep up with competition and we just keep losing deal after deal. Too expensive, too many flaws and CyberSense isn't as spectacular as everyone says. Cost is $$$$$$$$ the competition. Oh, and you can only use Data Domain, how convenient for Dell. Let's throw in a clean room and sling another data box!

PPDM and CR are dead products. Can't even get a stable release out there. What a joke.

When you lay off so many people, is it any wonder that products will suffer?

What is the deal with Data Domain. Products like PPDM and CyberRecovery rely heavily on DataDomain. Is DataDomain dying? Seems like we put all our eggs in that basket.

DPS is dead, rebranded to try and save things but DD is sinking like the Titanic.
