@xe I don't think leadership needs to take responsibility for poor financial decisions of their employees, if you're stretched out on your mortgage that's on you not TD. Having a good emergency fund is always important whether you're at Teradata or any other company, layoffs are happening everywhere and you can't really single out TD for it. Also what do you expect leadership to even say? Business decisions have to be made one way or the other

@wr "Update your resume, take some courses or certifications, and be prepared financially. Don't go out and buy anything big right now."

Prudent advice. It's disappointing (understatement) that hard working people on the ground have to constantly be in this 'mode' - always living in a state of anxiety and fear, never knowing when their life and the lives of their families might be upended by a layoff. Let's face it, it's not good for our health. Will that ever be addressed by the company? No, it's much easier to keep on saying that 'everything is awesome', a dose of compassion and humanity to staff? Not so much.

So anyways

Been said before but this can be an anxious time for folks as we look back on the years and seen around October there is a hit. Update your resume, take some courses or certifications, and be prepared financially. Don't go out and buy anything big right now. Best of luck!

@s2 someone cheering on layoffs? Are you sure you aren't responding to a troll. Honestly it is hard to believe anyone working here would write any of this

Unfortunately, there has been a lot of good, hard-working associates laid off and let's see if your tune changes when your number is called...News flash - no one is safe, not even you or those that drink the kool-aid because of the direction of the company that's losing customers/revenue...although it does appear some are protected, especially those with an awful track record (many in the Sr. Mgt. ranks). Another commenter hit the nail on the head - layoffs are the only tactic they seem to have...sad...

See, it's not just TDC, NTAP did this to this guy. Business decision blah blah. Slacker you say? Bloat, dead beat? Layoff is never good, there is a person a family whose life changes over 15 minutes. Nothing to brag about it. People who are calling these shots must acknowledge their failure. Instead they hide behind counsel and do lip service. There is no accountability at TDC or NTAP for that matter, and respective leaders are disappointment.

You get to decide where you work. They get to decide if you work there or not. Put your best foot forward every day. Earn a living with dignity, but plan like today is your last day at work. Your posts tell me you ain't seen much outside san diego. Enjoy the lights and large windows. Let one or two ray illuminate your writing as well.

You be who you want to be, a troll or a Russian doll or AI transformation change agent. As for me, I am done responding to your juvenile posts.

@rc I've never said SM is God, I just happen to believe in what he is doing and I also believe that there's a lot of bloat within Teradata. Do I believe layoffs are a bad thing? Not always, we have to understand that teradata can become a learner, more agile organization through strategic optimizations and cost reductions can be a very good thing. Personally I welcome layoffs because I know teradata recognizes hard work and I'll be safe, I've been here 7 years and I will be here longer.

Steve McMillan is a disappointment. That is my opinion. You can of course extend your faith and respect to dear leader, comedian-in-the-making. But would you consider your pick given the downvote? As someone mentioned before, all sorts of people visit this page not just bitter ex-employees. Why do people downvote your comments so much? is it a sign to you? No?

Td may turn around tomorrow and Steve McMillan will claim all credit. He will have nothing to back his claim though, but somehow board will nod their agreement. Can you ask SM how does he pull his stunt? Like him or not, he is still employed at-no one's-will.

This started as a september layoff comment, and now we are praising the lord? What? How? Why?

@he "Teradata isn't going anywhere" : finally, something we can all agree on...but for very different reasons. I think that's also a defining trait of ghost ships...

@p6 take a look at the mirror and ask yourself, am I a part of the problem? Think about it for a minute can you tell me what you did last week? I've been here awhile and I would say you're the problem not SM

@g4 have you ever taken a look in the mirror and thought... maybe just maybe I might be deadwood and not contributing to the company? Think about what you have done, are you just collecting a paycheck or are you hustling? How long have you been here?

@me I actually believe in TDC, I hold 90k of just TDC it's a stock that I believe in genuinely. I'm not going to move my entire portfolio to it just in case something does happen but I am buying 1500 a month of just TDC. Diamond hands!!

@jy SM has led teradata through an AI transformation modernizing legacy products. He has also driven down costs drastically. What have you done last week?

@gr if this is the case, you need to move all your holdings intoTDC stock! Are you willing to risk it all? I didn’t think so.

@hb I meant no disrespect to Steve Jobs, but at the same time I don't disrespect Steve McMillan either he's a fine CEO- not on the same level as Jobs but he's still someone whom I respect. I also am not trying to be a comedian, I get it there are spots within TD which aren't as stable but we can't lose faith in this. The ELT has a good idea of pivoting TD to an AI company and we're lining up our products in a way that set us apart from our competitors. Teradata isn't going anywhere

Oh you meant Apple, the company. I read SM brought jobs back while enjoying a fruit. He is enjoying his non-existent job all right. Just an insult to the first name of an accomplished individual (RIP). Thanks for the tip, cannot let an opportunity pass. Insiders must be gobbling up the shares anticipating 5x gain, now that all cylinders are restructuring in four shifts. You may be trying to be funny, and you were onto something with the AI factory reference but please allow another comedian try.

@ga Teradata is going through a transformation, read it here TDC will hit $100+ in the next 2 years. I see this place like Apple before Steve Jobs came back, we're about to crush our competition it's a long play. I have faith our marketing teams can get our AI solutions out into many F500 companies

@g8 excellent stuff! can you tell why the revenue is going down every quarter? Is it just because the engineers are playing table tennis in the office and not working? Is that the only reason you have to justify the earnings and fleeing customers? Dude are you from mars not able to see whats happening infront of your eyes? Are you walking blind every morning at work?

@fr Boy, you must’ve been asleep the last couple years. Teradata rolled out AI Factory, ModelOps upgrades, and ClearScape hooked into Google Cloud AI. That’s all real, monetizable stuff customers are already using. If you still ‘can’t name one,’ maybe the problem isn’t what’s coming from the top—it’s that you’re too busy whining on forums to notice.

One of the biggest problems with TD is they are keeping the WRONG people and NOT holding leadership accountable, like the stooge that says to put your big pants on and get your own house in order...Now that is FUNNY...Su-k @$$ leadership/management that does NOTHING but hemorrhage customers and lost revenue on a sinking ship AND NOBODY CARES...but some are protected by mother hen...great points @fr...

@f4 oh boy. Can you name one new product or feature that came out in the last couple of years thats monetizable? any feature that you can name to compete with DB or SF, which actually works and can sell to customers? What can any terrific employee do when nothing comes from top?

You guys need to put on your big boy pants. Teradata is a company that needs to make money, if you're under preforming resign or wait to get laid off. Whining about the ELT and SM isn't going to get you anywhere, get things in order in your own house.

@eq nothing wrong with what I said, I've only seen slackers hit. Teradata doesn't lay off their best people, nobody does. When times get hard companies let go of their worst not their best

@ag probably lost some deals out of Q3, so Q4 EPS are under pressure. But that doesn’t remove the risk of Q4 layoffs.
