Thread regarding BNSF Railway layoffs

The bnsf is no longer a "high" speed railroad when it takes from 1 to 3 crews to go 242 miles on the transcon.

@j5 this was their reasoning behind local dispatchers being let go, while single chief dispatcher runs everything, consolidating with fill in the blank technology, no brain power needed, because nothing ever goes wrong, and things always go according to plan on the railroad. I guess that’s why the furloughed 200 from IT last month, if there is a problem, BNSF doesn’t care to fix it, just ignore it and fire those who could fix it, so the railroad can maintain plausible deniability

@a7 Throughput planner takes information put in by users to make the plan. It's the basic garbage in, garbage out deal. Train masters have to have the plan put in by a certain time, so they just fill in the blanks with nonsense. This worked in the old days when dispatchers ran trains. But now movement planner takes that information as gospel and runs trains based on it. If you have a good dispatcher, they'll manipulate the plan to make trains run better. But most are out in the hall getting their internet fix or reading a novel while crying about getting too much territory handed to them.

@hc Not needed? Are you getting all of your time off requests approved? Tell me, what's your secret?

The through point planner runs the railroad, that’s why BNSF is getting rid of dispatchers, through dual function utilization between ctc, ptc and through point planner, trains no longer run ahead of schedule, through point will put a train in a siding unnecessarily to hold it until it arrives within a certain time frame or window, burning crews on time. Logistically speaking it’s Trojan horse that delays trains then blames crews.
